New E55 Owner - Question on Hands Free Option
Hello Folks...
We just picked up a 2005 E55 to go with our 2002 CLK55 and 2005 SLK350.
It's a very nice car with only 5600 miles. I could not say no to this one. It is Black/Black with 19" two-piece AMG wheels. The prior owner got a CLK63 Black Series to replace the E55 (Black/Black). I saw that car... WOW. That's a real Beast.
Here is my question: What's the story with this Hands Free Communincations option? I have looked in the manual and I cannot locate any details about this. Does anyone else have this? What does it do and how does it work?
Thanks.
BTW... I have been lurking here for years for the infomation and stories, but I have only made a few posts. This is a great resource, and I thank you all.

Hands free has a separate little lever on the right side of the steering column. You pull it and can them tell the car to do a variety of things - change radio station, dial a phone number etc.

That stalk is for linguatronic which is voice activated phone/stereo etc. Its an option. If you have a phone cradle the system is hands free for the phone but you need to use the keypad to dial etc.

No, you can dial by name or number hands free. In fact, about the only thing you can't do is operate the nav or switch to/control satellite radio. I mostly use it to dial by names stored in my phone book, but occasionally to change CD's or radio stations.

If you have the Euro COMAND, you can operate the navigation with the handsfree voice control.
I swapped in the Euro COMAND and it works perfectly with my existing handsfree voice control.

So you both have linguatronic installed, not just a hands free car phone kit (cradle in the arm rest). I think thats the distinction being made.
