Oil Consumption Test Results
I had MB run an oil consumption test given the fact that my oil light came on every 1500 miles. The first test was invalid due to a leak in the oil cooler line which required a new part from Germany. I am hoping that this is the source of the problem. I drove the car 1100 miles and the oil weight was reduced by approximately 1.5 pounds. MB stated that his was well withing the guidelines and there is nothing wrong with the engine.
Question. The oil was at 16.25 pounds when the test started, so this is nearly a 10% reduction in weight. Am I to assume that there is a 10% reduction in oil level, or is there another factor to consider like the viscosity?
