Rear spoiler?

I just bought a Rear Window Spoiler and i was wondering what kinda of Double sided tape would be good and sturdy to hold it both when it's dry and wet.

TIA,

Andrew

Use the 3M professional one that body shops use.

I recommend getting it at a bodyshop just because it comes in different widths and thicknesses they usually have them in stock at all times.

Note: if the spoiler is made of fiber-glass (carbon fiber or hyper polyurethane), it may be too heavy for the 3M tape to hold successfully. In this case, the body shop will use a special liquid glue that is strong enough and works well on fiber-glass. I had this problem on my previous C32.

A slow Tahoe!
If the body shop doesn't have it, try a glass company. They use a lot of it.

Yes, the spoiler is made of fiber-glass. So, it'd probably be best that i use glue? But what if i want to take it off? Is it possible?

How many feet do you need? I have about 12-15 feet of the 3M Automotive Acrylic Plus Attachment tape leftover that I used on my spoiler. Its the black adhesive with the red lining 1/2" in width. If you're interested just shoot me a PM where to send this and its yours FREE. I have no need for this anymore.

More info on it:

Yes, they use a special type of glue (sorry I forgot the name of it) that is strong enough to hold weight yet still can be removed but has to be done professionally.

If you take it to a body shop they'll evaluate it for you. Also, there is a new kind of 3M double-sided tape (looks dark black) that just came out last May that is supposed to be even stronger

On my C32, they used the glue, and it worked really great........

This is the response I got from 3M -
- we would recommend that you install a spoiler with mechanical fasteners (screws or bolts) in addition to tape. These parts experience high dynamic and sustained loads and required both.

Our 4229P and 4229 double sided tapes are commonly used to attach bodyside
mountings (in this case without fasteners). These tapes are available at
Automotive Repair suppliers around Australia. The best and fastest way of locating a distributor near you would be to call 3M at 136 136 and request customer service.

If you have further questions please contact me as below or by return e-mail.

But I purchased stuff from these guys for my CF rear diffuser - it sure is sticky! http://stores.ebay.com/Stick-Shop
