I LOVED THOSE SEATS,

seats in the six three are good but man that extra bolster on hard turns was amazing.

AFAIK, it should be the other way around.... the fans suck your body heat, thus, you would "feel" cooling effect. I could be wrong...

Well, whichever way it works, where's the "cooling"? No matter how you cut it, the benz design is just moving hot air around inside the cabin.

Real "a/c seats" have coils and compressor connections, or have an air tube coming from the vehicle's evaporator compartment outlet, that actually COOLS the seats.

I just don't think a fan by itself really equals an "a/c seat". And IME, the mercedes ones don't work. You don't even notice that they're on, other than the 3 blue lights on the dash...which I guess may be a psychological effect, but that alone isn't worth the cost of the option.

Yeah agree.... but can't say it's a false advertisement.... the option is called ventilated seat.... LOL. It's just like saying the seat has a window to circulate the air....

I would care less either way.... it's good to have but so far I haven't used it even once yet... LOL.

I haven't used the ventilated seats in my E63 wagon yet, but used them often in my CLS 550. While they do not "cool" they do move air around your body and help to evaporate sweat. I would prefer that they did actually cool but still find them beneficial.

Dynamic Seats

'06 (E55) was the last year the Dynamic Seats were available as an option. Hence, they are not available on E63s (the first year of which was '07). This is a significant reason I purchased a used '06 E55 over a new E63. I love these seats; they truly make a fun difference during aggressive back-road driving.

According to seemingly knowledgeable General Manager at local MB dealership, the reason for the discontinuance of the option was the outsourced manufacturer of the seats was having trouble supplying them on a timely manner so MB just cut it off as an option to avoid the sourcing headaches.

I learned about these seats on my former E500 and loved them then, and thus looked for them when I upgraded to the AMG.

Thanks guys.

Drive Dynamic Seats

I have the muti-contour option only. Will the dealer install the drive dynamic seats on an '04 at this point?

Whew....

I too have the Drive Dynamic seats on my '04 E55, but thought the cooling feature did not work...lights come on (what, 3 speeds? ) but even over a 6 hour drive I never felt a difference.

Good to know that is normal!

PS - me likey the "dynamic" feature.

My '06 has active seats, and I love them. They actually work - no more sliding around in the seat into awkward, uncomfortable positions when going around bends. My wife loves them, too, as well as the lumbar massager. The cooling seats, however, are rubbish, IMO.

question: are the dynamic seats on the e55 as good and usefull as the m5. when i test drove the m5, i just loved the active seat option, they're very quick to inflate, what about the 55's seats?

If you have ever had the pleasure of a 2 hour ride in a third world taxi with clear vinyl seat covers somewhere in the sub tropics one may realize what Chris Rock refers to as sweaty Balzz. At first I thought the seats had chilled air forced through the perforated center sections wrong. What they have are fans that draw air in through the perforated sections and because it is ambient/cabin temp it is difficult to tell a temperature difference, but a more accurate measure may be personal humidity.

I've only been in the M5 with the active seats once and I was impressed. That's what made me want them in the Beast. With only one ride, I really can't compare them.
But I can tell you, I love them in my car. They move quick, are very supportive and totally comfortable. Hate driving with them off, even in unspirited driving.

Actually I have, unfortunately... a long, slow drive from Mexico City to Puebla de Puebla...no A/C, 90+ degrees and 80% humidity...lots of busses with exhaust at windo level (cough).

Or from an old SNL - "Speaking of schwetty ballz...have you seen mine?"...

correct...converting multicontour seats (which every (US spec) E55 has into drive dynamic seats is no problem at all...and it doesn't require a seat or leather swap (but still isn't cheap though partially due to the stuff that goes into the trunk)

greetingz,

I have it on my 06! I think it might be ready set up in the seat just you would need to swap the control on the bottom!
