CF Plate frame for my AMG
Well I don't have the car yet but I did buy one of these gems for it![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)

I got it and it looks great! Early Christmas for me. Now to get the car...

Maybe everyone is different but I did not think that the selling price was crazy. I come from a manufacturing background and know how much labor goes into these things. They are not just popped out of a machine by the thousands. My local MB dealer charges $80 for machine made chrome metal frames so I figure that is pricey.
Anyways in the thought that these would be a cool gift, I contacted the seller and asked them if they could do special pricing for the forum members until Christmas. The seller was really good with my transaction and I was pleased with the product so let's see if they can do anything for us.
My question now is with the complaining about the price:
'What sounds fair for a hand made item like this?'

Hi Guys,
I got a reply from the E-bay seller on the plate frames and they are willing to offer a special deal to MBWorld members up to December 25th this year:
$49 per frame with $15 flat rate shipping no matter how many you buy. This is NOT through E-bay. Payment must be sent direct to the seller.
3 Things:
- Payment is to be sent to paypal@5ivefifty.com be sure to mention you are an MBWorld Member.
- Inquiries are to be sent to info@5ivefifty.com
- This price applies weather you buy a blank frame or one with the following brands on them:
AMG
Mercedes Benz
Ferrari
Porsche
Lamborghini
Corvette
This is a great deal compared to retail. Hopefully some of you will be able to save some cash and give a cool gift.

That it is an awsome price. My dealer was selling the chrome-like ones with the AMG logo for $45 ![EEK!](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/eek.gif)
This looks much nicer, better build quality, and it's freakin Carbon Fiber........![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)

I think it would only look if you car was debadge ...its kinda repetitive.
Like those people who put a big benz or BMW chrome lic.plate in front of their car.

I have had some carbon fiber get a yellow tint in the clear coat to UV exposure after a while and there were some posts here about MB carbon fiber doing the same thing. I would imagine this frame could turn yellow in a couple of months.

The seller claims that the frame is urethane coated and will NOT yellow. It is my experience that products that are coated with the proper clear will not yellow. While I can't comment on the clear used in these frames I do know that urethane is one of the coatings of choice for eliminating UV discoloration. The new BMW M6 has an exposed carbon roof and I never noticed discoloration on one of those so for sure it is possible to make carbon that won't yellow.

From AutoWeek:
" Loads of unpainted carbon fiber distinguish the ZR1, including the splitter, roof and its supporting "bow," and rocker-panel extensions. Because ultraviolet light degrades unpainted carbon fiber, General Motors bought a $60,000-per-gallon UV-blocking clear-coat additive that's used in the circuit-board industry. Juechter said carbon-fiber breakdown would have been unacceptable in a car that almost certainly will sell for $100,000 to $125,000."

The ebay seller must be using the same stuff.

I sent an email to info@5ivefifty.com asking that they send me a paypal request for the total. They sent one for 49 plus 15 for shipping. I paid this morning and I got an email back saying it would ship this afternoon. If only shipping my car were this easy.

for the people who have ordered this CF frame...what's the fit and quality? has anyone thought to drill holes in the lower portion of the frame so as to put in 4 screws?
