Check Engine: Help required please
I have an 07 E63 which has been working flawlessly. This last Saturday morning I get in it and drive and noticed the check engine light stayed on. There are no perceptible driving problems (i.e. it's not running crippled).
I used an OBDII reader and there are 2 problem codes registered: P0412 and P0415, both refer to malfunctions of the Secondary Air Injection system valves (A & B).
I'm not sure what might have brought this about, the car was parked outside overnight (not the norm), and there has been freezing rain around, could this have messed something up?
Anyone know how serious these codes are and whether I need to take it to a dealer immediately or at my leisure? Or whether there's anyway to fix the problem?
Thanks in advance, Dave.
I picked this car up in July, but i noticed it's build date goes back to Oct06, apparently it was sitting in a dealership in florida a long-time until my dealer got it transferred, only had 7 miles on it though.
It sounds like maybe there's just a few issues with the early ones, and this doesn't appear too serious, may wait till after the holidays, in case of parts/holiday delays. Don't want to be without the car too long!
This is my first MB, so forgive me if i'm a little paranoid, but I took out the carbon air filters, do you think I should reinstall before taking the car back to the dealer? Do they know/care about customer mods like that?
Thanks.
Weird, guess I'll have the dealer look at it later.
