I actually don't think it's that horrible. Would I treat my car like that? No, but I'm also an enthusiast. This guy just treated his car like most people do. "Hey, Fido, jump in the back seat" "What honey? We need to wash the car? Okay, let's run it through that gas station automatic car wash" "The interior is dirty? Oh well, it's just a car" To this guy, it wasn't an AMG - The Beast. It was a normal day to day car. His AMG was as if you and I were driving a 1987 Toyota Corolla. Just a car to get from Point A to B. The swirls on the paint I guarantee were caused by an automatic car wash. The engine bay was filthy b/c of the dirt road the guy drove everyday and it got filthier and filthier b/c the guy never detailed the engine. The backseat had dog prints b/c again he lived on a dirt road and didn't care if his dog jumped in the backseat with muddy feet. Dog hair was everywhere b/c the guy was too lazy to detail the interior or vacuum it out. Do I agree with how the guy treated the car? Should a person who is not an enthusiast buy this kind of car? Hell no, but I bet a lot of old guys who bought the E55 treat it the same way as this person. Unfortunately, non-car people have bought the E55 b/c it was the top of the line E-class and they wanted that prestige but don't really take pride in the condition of their car like most of us do.

Beware of used cars. When all that wax wears off the scratches will reappear. Good job on the detailers part. He probably won't want to sell the car now.

I would like to thank the poster of this thread for putting this up here. I've looked around this forum and seems to be very informative. I have done a love of MB's in my two years of detailing and they are awesome machines.

Thanks for the kind remark you have given me here!

If I can help in any way, let me know.

Justin

Here's another MB detail that I a while back......

No problem.

Just being honest with you, that E55 you did was probably the best detail job I have ever seen. Truly amazing.

As shocked at the condition of the car before I am atleast as shocked at the after result. After that treatment you buy the car from this guy and you think it was kept nice and clean...

If that were the case, why not just buy new wheels and have the whole car resprayed, instead of the detail. Same price, lol.

Half of me (ok, more than half) still thinks it's complete BS, though. There are quite a few entries on google search for that guy and his $10k+ detail services, but it all appears to have started with a self-entry on a blog, which got picked up by another auto blog, so I'm not at all sure how reliable that is. I'd like to hear from someone who would actually admit to paying $10k for a car wash, and then maybe I'd believe it.

Add to these suspect circumstances the fact that he claims to have a $12000 can of carnauba wax, and I think this just smells fishy. I'd love to see a can of wax that costs $12k.

I still think the whole idea is completely outrageous. I don't care if I were Bill Gates, Warren Buffet, and the Sultan of Brunei combined....I still wouldn't pay $10k for a detail job.

If I was one of those guys, I could buy the type of car that is worth so much money that "relatively speaking" a $10K detail job would be peanuts. If fact, I would hire that guy to do nothing but detail my stable of exotic cars. I would use the money in an excessively lavish manner and enjoy it, lol.

I couldn't agree more.

I know of three people here in little old Blue Ridge that pay their house keepers 5k a month to maintain their home.

For $10k, wouldn't it be cheaper just to get the car painted every year

Here you go, it's $5,000 pounds so about $9,982 USD. Everything looks to be applied by hand, no buffers here.

wow, its amazing how much you people know about the owner of the car, just because its dirty. Calling him a "pos" is pretty classless.

Bottom line, the guy paid his $80k for the car, he can do with it what he damn well pleases.

Its just a car folks.

Yeah....... I've seen it at our last Fontana meet

Although Jangy's car is a little dirty, it is no where near the damage done to this car. Jangy's interior would be considered "brand new" compared to this interior, and his engine compartment is perfectly clean. He just has a thick layer of dust and dirt that accumulated over time. This guy, however, seems to have damage in the clear coat + some type of oxidation and possibly rust doing on

This is probably the worst condition I've ever seen an AMG in

Brother, please: calling this "just a car" hurts MY feelings, let along the tender-hearted feelings of the Beast. I am whispering during this posting, hoping my Beast can't hear us banter about such disgraceful depictions.

I hope she can not hear us from the parking lot outside my building....from the furtherest-away space in said parking lot.... from within the titanium-reinforced double gated fence that adorns her on the outside perimeter of said parking space.......and from within the "atmospheric deprivation protective bubble wrap" she is cocooned in daily.

"Just a car!!"

Was Babe Ruth "just a baseball player?"
Was Michael Jordon "just another hoopster?"
Was Thomas Jefferson "just a politician?"
Was Christopher Columbus "just another bored Spaniard?"
Was Bill Clinton "just another lier?"
Was Lawrence Taylor "just another linebacker running the rails?"
Was Monica Lewinsky "just another office ho?"
Are the Patriots "just a football team?"
Is the USA "just a country?"
Was Charles Manson "just another troubled youth?"
Is BMW "just another jealous competitor?"
Was the American Revolution "just a skirmish?"

NEVER!!!

The Beast is more than a car. It is a way of life. And I for one will not go quietly into the night and let this way of life be ripped from me and my posterity. Long Live the Beast!!!!

$10,000 wax? Meh, maybe for a Yugo.....

This is what the big players are using. (errr, I guess will maybe one day use? There's one jar and no one has bought it yet.)

$37,070

And all you get is this lil container here. lol

That guy represents the word IDIOT. Who lets a car sit like that Plus its sad a person has to buy that without knowing it was like that. I don't care how clean it became it should never have been let to sit like that. Some people don't appreciate what they have.
