Looks like the markup won't be too crazy. There is one on ebay with a "BUY IT NOW" of $85,000 and they didn't even come out yet. It will definitely be a great deal if you can pick one up for around $65,000 down the road. When used ones are in the $50,000 range, then we're really talking

Anyone get their May08 R&T? GTR spanks the 911-TT and Z06. This is based on the track times at Buttonwillow's which it crushed both by 5 seconds but in the 1/4 was 0.1 slower and 6-8mph lower w/ an 11.8@116.5.

Also anyone catch the Speed channels episode Monday night with the CL600 running the 1/8th in 7.98 with 2 people in the car?

Car and driver had a 124 trap speed for the GTR.... still trying to understand two mags getting an 8 mph difference, it is huge.

I think there are variances in some of the pre-production cars. Do not doubt that Nissan is sending out ringers to buffer publicity.

When the SL55 first came out, they came with the larger throttle bodies and produced over 500hp.

Perhaps Nissan did something similiar. The very first GT-R's come with slightly raised boost?

The variances are crazy in trap speed!

The thing that amazes me the most with this car is the grip it has. Wow.

Did you see the tires it comes with? They're basically racing slicks.

I'd love to grab a pair of those...runflats no less! Between ATESSA and the nitrogen-filled Bridgestone's, I guess it makes total sense why a 3900lb boat carves corners like an Elise.

Hahaha, funny you should say that grasshopper, Lotus did the chassis tuning.

What a lot of people don't know is the amount of collaboration Ghosn sought when designing this car. I know it's been an epic journey since the R34, and when they set about making the R35 they wanted a world-beater that could be sold worldwide, but they didn't have the engineers that were specialized enough to do it. They sought advice from Ford Cosworth for the VR38 and chassis tuning from Lotus, you'd be hard pressed to find two companies that are better at what they do than those. Cosworth has been making some awesome Turbo powerplants for a while now, and Lotus well, you know.

Yep, I've been watching the NAGTROC forums for the R35 for over 2 years and I absorbed as much info on it as possible. I forgot about that though, thanks for the reminder. Nissan can comfortably say that they have accomplished their mission. Even the most hardcore of the GT-R cult have been amazed at what a "480hp 3900lb" car can do. Aerodynamics, awd, dsg, tires, plasma lined cylinders, turbo placement at the manifolds, the advancements in the drivtrain such as the rear-mounted tranny and the shaft that bends upon acceleration...everything has been done to perfection.

I am so excited to see the V-spec. I think that'll be my car.

You know its so tempting... but I dont think it will have presence... maybe it will over time... 997TT/GT2/3 or F430 do and they are really desirable (to me at least) ... do I desire a GT-R ... well, I guess I do, but not as much as the aforementioned. For example I brought it up with the wife... she said "Its a Nissan! Are you nuts?". On the other hand if I told her I wanted to buy a F430 - she would probably say go for it... and I guess this is all the reason the price difference exists....

When you talk value for money... its a complete no brainer - but as we all know, and as is evdenced by the finanicial market turmoil we are in, rational people are few and far between...

I saw it in person at the NY auto show. It was unique and different. I thought it looked very cool...my family thought it was an average car. They thought I was retarded when I said that I even liked the car. From the side profile, the car does look too big and boxy, maybe the side looks too tall.

I keep thinking about how great the aftermarket will be for this car and how I should get one and mod it to hell...but at that point I can take my Z06 and do a twin turbo and blow the doors off whatever I feel like and still snap the necks of fine ladies wherever I go instead of impressing techno-geeks or fellow gaijins lol. Lucky for all of us, we have time to see what the GT-R is really made of. When affordable turbo packages come out for the VR38 then I'll know if it'll be the one that replaces my 'Vette.

Sunny and I saw it at the Auto Show and we FREAKED OUT. Way better looking in person, photos can't properly capture just how muscular and mean this car looks. It's like someone carved it out of steel. Just for reference, Sunny was looking at either the Maser Gran Turismo or the M6 for his next car, and he stopped dead in his tracks when he saw the GTR. Now we're probably going to have matching cars by the end of the summer.

Unless he goes with white, I think we're both going to do the dark gray with the black/red interior.

If it's not available, I'll get it done. Seriously, I'm obsessed with red interior. That'll be a nice custom touch no? Maybe red alcantara??? In the doors?? And in the seat bolsters?????

I assume this means you are both already on a list somewhere because this is one car your not going to be able to simply "pick up" at your local dealerships for a long while. As I understand it everything is already pre-sold to a certain point. It's not a two year wait (like a ferrari) but it's not a drive in, order and get it in 3 months either.

That's why I didn't get the GT-R. I got the Z06 under sticker. The GT-R would be over sticker...and I'm honestly a real young kid, I have all to do to pay for this damn Vette and any mods that'll come along with it lol.

You guys need to get these cars....

Personally if I was going to spend that much money I would pretty much copy this design here: http://gallery.modified.com/gallery2..._2318.jpg.html

but here are some other color options:

Gunmetal/Gray looks Hard http://gallery.modified.com/gallery2..._2046.jpg.html

Urrrnge http://gallery.modified.com/gallery2..._2124.jpg.html

Creamy Miracle Whip http://gallery.modified.com/gallery2..._2243.jpg.html

Black looks sick and juicy!!! http://gallery.modified.com/gallery2..._9456.jpg.html

a little red maybe http://gallery.modified.com/gallery2..._9691.jpg.html

silver'ish?!? http://gallery.modified.com/gallery2..._9689.jpg.html

Definitely is, I had the hooker on the turntable getting her cardio in at the carshow as I picked her brain for a solid ten minutes on the car. The other ten million people pressed up against the railing must have thought I was a well dressed auto journalist with the ridiculous stuff I was asking her.
