Issues: E55 owners please chime in(Help)

Today I floored the e55 on first and second the car pulls hard. After the top of second I pull off a bit after which I punch it one more time. This time nothing happens. The car doesnt pull at all. The RPM climbs but the car slowly pull. (Not normal at all). So I exit the freeway. Punch the gas on off the line and the cars seems fine. I enter the freeway. And it does the same thing mentioned above. First and second feels fine but after pulling off and punching it nothing happens. From 4th the tranny downshifts to 3rd but it doesnt pull at all (RPM goes up). It feels like something's not biting... Supercharger??

What could this be? Taking it in on Wednesday.

search "intercooler pump" and you'll find all the info you need.

i've read about that. you sure thats what it is. kinda worried it was a tranny, supercharger or something expensive. Although the warranty should cover it...

Definately sounds like a failing Intercooler Pump. Very common on 55k engines. Either get the pump replaced or move to the Johnson Marine CM30 pump.

Contact LET Motorsports, they just had a very good special on that pump.....

I agree with everone else! It might be something else but all the data we came across it always ends up being the I/C pump.

give year and miles. any mods?

It does sound like your temps are bumping up and so the SC will shut off, but I worry that you say it only happens n third and fourth gears?

How difficult is the pump swap as a DIY for a person reasonably technically inclined but with zero experience on the 55K?

If all you do is replace it with the stock one or the CM30, then it is a straight swap out and easy to do. BUT, while you are down there, you may want to consider some things that may get intricate.

First, consider wiring the pump to run at all times when the car is on. As it is, the computer is set to shut the pump down at certain times in hopes of extending pump life. The OEM pumps don't last that well, but the CM30 is rated at about 5000 hours.

Then, consider getting a larger Heat Exchanger or even better, splitting your systems (engine cooling vs SC cooling).

Good luck.

Thanks everyone for your response. I'm taking it in to the dealership tomorrow. I'll let you know what they say.

Is there a big performance difference between the johnsons and OEM IC pump?
