These modes are for tranny only I believe. The suspension is controlled by the Normal, S1, S2 settings.

Sport 2 is stiffer than sport 1 which is stiffer than 0.

Perhaps, when Jack set it up at tranny mode of C that day, it may have helped his 60ft time and avoid traction problem. IIRC, he didn't do bracket racing so the timing doesn't start until he leaves the line so even if it takes seconds to down shift to 1st gear that doesn't really matter to his ET only his reaction time.

In road race, you want to set up your suspension so that your car is level where it does not nose dive when you brake or squat when you gas it. Secondly, it also help to avoid body roll.

In drag racing, you actually want to have your front suspension the softest possible and the rear stiffest possible. The reason is so that you can allow the fastest weigh transfer into the rear to plant the power down. This is why for the hardcore, they use skinnys and soft suspension in the front and stiff suspension with air bag in the rear. In our car, we can't setup the suspension properly by a push of button but I guess some found that softest works the best.

Bingo. Better weight transfer.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but little tweaks like this (dragging in soft suspension mode, etc.) improve 1/4 time (other things being equal) very little? I.e. it is considered a good improvement to go from, say, a 12.7 1/4 to a 12.4 qtr mile, correct?

Stated another way, how much 1/4 mile time improvement would making this change make?

thnx

I cant tell about 1/4 mile times, because never done them, but at least the difference in 0-100km/h when evaluated with the Drift box GPS equipment, there are significant differences, with different settings. So far my bes tresults are with S gear, manually change to 1 and with the sports 1 setting. I think downgrading to 18 inch wheels, would help too.

Screen

I didn't read all of that because I am lazy and have ADD like a mother...

In my 63, there is a screen (its with oil temp) to see what gear you are in, I am sure there is one for the 55, look at that when you drive, it will help you understand the car.

C stands for COMFORT mode which replaces the old moniker W for WINTER mode.. It is the same thing.

The transmission starts off in 2nd gear.. The most beneficial use is in Winter months when you want traction and dont want all that torque down low. The other use is if you are trolling around town with the elders and want the car as silky smooth as possible.. Using C transmission mode keeps the shift softer also.

ATNN: HAMMER DOWN ,

Your runs were incredible for your first time out,

You helped prove on a CRAPPY TRACK a good counter measure is to use C mode. I should have tried it ...when traction is limited C mode would work well , this explains your better than most 60 ft times. You will go sub 12 seconds but you must match weather and the 60 ft time of enzom, Housclass and DJ, who else was sub 12? (stock)

I would say with a sticky track you will definately wanna use S mode and the squishiest suspension setting

Can't wait. I've been hitting the treadmill so I can come in about 15-20 lbs lighter. I'm taking my stock wheels in to get rebalanced and ready to race.

I also have some 200mph tape to put over the nose so I can create more downforce

I was also joking about the last statement. It should be a blast!

EDIT:: FOR THE MEDIA and others,

theis "racing" will occur at Sacramento County Raceway, where you can legally race your vehicle down a 1/4 mile NHRA sanctioned track

Good point, juicee63.

Yes, to all the "Media" and related insecure-childish types: when on this site we refer to "racing" or it equivalent, we are referring to the "racing of our hearts" as we enjoy our "not as good as lambo" cars. NOT.

Wow, I never realized drag racing (at a racetrack where it's legal) could be healthy for you too. I need to take up this "sport."

Hard to really say. If your 1.9 second 60' time could become a 1.75 60' time based on starting in 1st and not 2nd, that could shave 3/10's off your e.t. But if you are running on a poorly prepared surface, you'll trade lazy 1.9 second 2nd gear 60' times for ESP'd 1.9 second 1st gear 60' times. In other words, you need to be able to put the power down for it to give you a measurable gain.
