2001 BMW 330 convertible
Is anyone else confused about values?????
Here is what I have found out so far while researching prices for a 2006 E55.
Auto Trader in the LA area - 16 E55's with an average asking price of
$ 62,104
Kelly Blue Book price in excellent condition with 20,000 miles. Price to purchase from private party - $68,000
ebay - Buy it now prices $ 49,900 and several listings that don't sell with bids only reaching low to mid 40's.
Why do so many ebay cars have prices 15 to $25,000 lower than Auto Trader and Dealers?
I am getting very confused about what I should have to pay for my dream car. Can anyone shed any light on this?

from what I know, even the reputable dealers on ebay can still be selling cars that have been purchased at auction with minor yet singnificant problems....if that makes sense.
I wouldn't trust ebaymotors w/ a 10 ft pole
Fun to look at though

Guess I got lucky. I bought my car after seeing it on ebay from an Atlanta BMW dealer. They had taken it as a trade and put it on ebay. I've had the car for almost a year and a half with no problems. It was a one owner car and I have checked all the records and there were no problems to be found anywhere(Carfax, dealer service records, etc.).
I think you just have to be more careful when buying a car on ebay. Check all records and do a prebuy inspection. Many of the cars on ebay don't sell quickly or at all. This gives you extra time to deal with the seller.

Maybe I too got lucky. I found my 2006 E55, on sale by a Daytona Beach Florida MB Dealer. I called them to discuss the car, and then dealt directly with them for several weeks until closing the deal. I drove my former E500 down there, traded it in, and the E55 was everything they said it was, and even better. Price: $66k with 9k miles, down from the $69k ebay price. No problems or complaints. The car is a dream.

2005 E55, 2004 E55(sold), 2001 Viper GTS, 2006 Viper VOI9, 1994 ZR-1 Corvette 2009 Viper ACR,
You have to be VERY careful. These cars are very sensitive in pricing.. I ASSURE you, if you found an 06', for $50k. There is a story, a big one..... Salvage title, Lemon Law,etc... 06's are still in the upper $50's, and that would be a DEAL. low $60's would be retail, and what one would expect to pay for a CPO car..
There seem to be a lot of Lemon Law cars showing up on Ebay. Read the fine print. Keep in mind, this car is sold with a branded title. So, it will have a perm. blemish on the car history, and will always be worth AT LEAST 20% less, than the same exact car, w/o the branded title.. Dont let the dealer give you the old "the problems have been coreected" line.. That very well may be the case. But the Lemon Law history, will follow the car for life.. And Salvage title, is salvage title. It has almost no value..
