Reading this post reminds me of an incident in Chino Hills about 5 years ago where a woman was jogging and hit by a drunk illegal running from the cops and thrown 250 feet -- she wasn't so lucky an did not make it.
Best of luck with your recovery and when you go through the pains of getting back up on your feet remember that it could have been a much worse outcome.

Jrocket is a straight up dude and a friend. Ling has been in touch with his wife. Modest dude didn't want the news let out, but I think it's fine. I think he was to have surgery on his neck. He was fiesty about it, so that is good to see. We are all here for him and his family. Friggin must be a scary feeling getting hit and thrown 300 feet!!

From what I was told, yes everything went fine after he agreed to have it done. He started physical therapy Sunday, went home yesterday, and planted himself on the couch.

Talked to John today for a little while. He's back at home and can't really do much at this point. He still doesn't have much feeling in his fingers or forearms and can't really stare at the computer screen too long before getting nauseous so no forum whoring for now. Still in lots of pain as one can expect one week after such an accident. He described to me in detail what happened and all I could do was grimace. Remembers EVERYTHING that happened. 
The guy who hit him is some 27 year old, was under the influence, no insurance, had an expired driver's license, and what sounded like a previous history of similar "bodily injury" convictions against him. He is currently in custody with $100k bail.
He wants to thank everyone for the well wishes and says thanks to (Albert) Rflow for the cookies.
To Rob (buyer of the car): He wants to apologize and feels really bad that he could not tie up the loose ends with the car before you picked it up. He had every intention of keeping his word on whatever he promised you but, due to the unfortunate circumstances, could not do so. John will be in touch with you as soon as he is well enough.
