I'm pretty happy with my car but I really don't like the paddle shift buttons on the back side of the steering wheel. Can't tell you how many times i've accidently bumped the downshift button and then found myself cruising 45 mph at 5500 rpm. It's the main reason I don't let ANYBODY drive my car. Not even the wife.
That and the usless Nav system I could live without.

If you're getting nothing, which I've experienced many times, it has always been due to the ESP and the situation you describe of flooring it in 2nd in a curve could definitely do it. I had the IC pump problem but it's not like ESP cutting in, it's more gradual

I would like to know how to completely turn off the vocals on the NAV. Best I can get is where she speaks and the radio does not mute at all, but I want it all gone.

2004 E55 AMG; 1995 Porsche 993 Cab.
Cupholders.... HA HA!!
You guys have to remember that the AMG is a thing of Teutonic Beauty ... it was designed for tearing up the Autobahn at "ludicrous speed!"... a place where you can "go to plaid" ... a place where driver distractions (like a coke and cheesburger) could be ... err.... problematic
Almost no performance German car has cupholders by design, always an afterthought for the US market, so just be thankful you even have those little things by your elbows...
Embrace the Teutonic-ness ...
(OK, this post is tongue-in-cheek but about 90% true).

Nah, I sold my frigging Porsche because it did not have cupholders.
My old job I had a 33 miles 1 way commute. I want my damn COFFEE in the morning.

I really don't mind the beeping that much nor do I care too much about the cup holder since I don't allow any food in my car anyway...But my biggest complaint is the first gear shifting way too soon. Once I gain traction, it's already in 2nd.
Also...everytime I try to turn on the fogs, the $&%*ing knob comes off!!! Does anyone else have this problem or am I the only one?

yes the shifting is annoying. the beep is number one though. Funny you should mention the light switch; there is a tie-in there. You can pull your light switch knob off? AWESOME. I wish I could. I tried to yank the knob off with no luck. I would rip that f(*&er off in a heartbeat if I could. The reason??? The VALET. I bet a lot of you know exactly what I'm talking about already. You drive around with the lights on AUTO 95% of the time. You never think about the lights.. you never turn them off.. you never turn them on... AUTO... always.
THEN.. one day.. you go to the valet. They park the car and crank the knob to OFF. The valet who retrieves your car later cranks it back to ON. not auto.. ON.... all the way on. You drive home. You turn off the car and get out. ok here is the good tie-in part.. BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP... is it telling you the lights are left on? who would know? WHO? how would it be possible? It could have an alarm to tell you you parked in a minefield, but who would possibly pay it any attention when the same alarm sounds.. not 50%... not 90%... but one HUNDRED PERCENT of the times you have EVER exited your vehicle? Nice combination there. The end result, of course, is the dead battery the next day. The dead 50 megawatt 65 ton un-jumpable battery, at that.
in addition to being stupid, the beeping is a boy-who-cried-wolf situation. It has to go.

After two months of ownership I want to add to the Bi*ch list.
-No dedicated steering wheel button to change the sat radio stations. and when you do cycle through the menu to get to change stations from the soft keys, it won't go through my pre sets, but some other random collection of stations. Also the default view while listening to sat radio does'nt show any artist info. I'm constantly having to press the info button. (unless I am missing something)
-No one touch button to change seat memory. I shouldn't have to sit there and hold the the button down while it goes into position. I know this may sound niggly, but my wife is short, and I just want to press the button and have it done, not sit there for 30 seconds with the finger on the button. A cheapo ford can do it in one touch. (again am I missing something?)
-Non intuitive heating controls. I know I'm going to crash trying to decipher the heater controls, Couldnt they have used a round knob for the fan speed? And the fan seems to have a mind of its own, even when I attempt to turn off the "auto" feature
-my other Bi*ches are options my car doesn't have, but I feel should be standard like Parktronic & bluetooth (I bought the car from dealer stock, so I took what they had)
Now I feel better.

Very well said........
And Rich644- Can't scroll through SAT presents, also can't one-touch the memory position.... so you are correct in both observations.....

Dealer said they can't remove the beeping noises!!! How do I convince them otherwise? The beeping is driving me nutz, and is making me enjoy this car much less than I should be.

If you have Keyless Go you turm this feature to not installed using STAR. The Keyless Go works as it did before and you will not get anymore beeps.
