Test Drove '08 RS4
Stopped by Audi and looked at RS4. I think the car looks great. A really nice down played aggressive stance.
The inteiror was really nice too. However, it seemed a bit dated as it follows the A4 design which is about to change. The car's feel was really nice. It fit and handled like a glove... the only problem was power.
As I was test driving and the sales guy asked me how I liked the car, I told him it was really nice. But then I said, look at this as I floored it in 3rd from the bottom of RPM bend. And he said: "Yeah!" And I said: "No. It's underpowered... do you have anything more powerful in the line up?" I never seen anyone more confused. "We do not have anything faster..." He said with disapointment and confusion. I was going take a look at the S6, but it just seemed like a beast of a car with respect to size and weight... and again, with only 435 horse.
It was funny as the manager wouldn't believe that I actually said or meant that the car was underpowered... so they had to come outside and look at my Beast. Oh well... Then I stopped Porsche and drove 996TT MT6. Now that car has *****... too bad the creature comfort isn't there.

I like the looks of the exterior, but I agree with you on the interior, it is way too outdated. Audi needs to Twin Turbo that engine and get it to the same level as the new CTS-V

It is a fantastic car and one that I strongly considered last year as a daily driver. I love everything about it except for the lack of extreme power or any way to add more without spending a large chunk of change on a blower. It is too bad that Audi gave up on forced induction with the RS6. Hopefully the RS5 will mark the rebirth of Audi and forced induction.....please, please, please!

The car does not need more power.......it needs to lose 600lbs. The engine is a jewel but is not always up to the task of pushing all that weight around. Of course it feels underpowered when stepping into it after driving a SC55. Try taking the RS4 out on a back-country road or have a little fun during a nice downpour. This car shines when you engage it but it does not have an on/off switch like the 55.
As far as the interior.......it is beautiful and sublime. The materials are top notch (better than Merc's.), the ergonomics are spot-on and it is filled with awesome technology and has all the creature comforts you need (Serius, blue-tooth, great Nav, etc) It also has the best interior instrumentation lighting in the business. I love driving it at night.
Oh, did I mention the Lambo brakes? Nuff said.

I did the same and ended up getting the 06 E55. I was looking at this, an M5 and never considered the E55. Until I drove it.
It felt too way too small for me, and I could not get used to the torque curve. The e55 hooked me on first drive.

:"look at this as I floored it in 3rd from the bottom of RPM bend.": <-- this is why it feel so slow.
it was my daily from 06 July until I got my E63 last month.
The car is not really that under power, it has pretty good power BUT you
need to keep the RPM in range (5500+ RPM). If you flooring it from low RPM you not gonna get any power and it feel really slow.
E63 blows RS4 away in ever aspect except cornering..............
BUT!! there is nothing a RS4 can do that a e63 can't do in daily driving =P

Don't have a Mercedes right now...
The cars belong into a different category.
RS4 is usually compared to the C class Mercedes i.e C55, C63 and E class with Audi 6 series.
