Had Check Engine Light, led to secondary air injection DTB
In my 2008 E63 Wagon, with 11,000 miles, I got a CEL yesterday. I scanned with my Autoenginuity tool, and found some manufacturer-specific codes stored. I took it to the dealership this PM, and they found Codes 0817 and 0821 were stored, which indicate malfunctions of the secondary air injection pump, in the air pump switchover valve controller of the Bosch ME 9.7 ECU for AMG 211.077/277. They found a service bulletin, P-B-14.30/23 which addressed this issue, dated 1/9/08. The tech flashed my ECU with the latest software as required by the bulletin, and so far so good. Thought this might help some other folks as well.

The CEL wasnt for the air injection problem this time. The external temp sensor had come loose and was malfuntioning. Apparently, if there is a 40 degree difference in what the external temp sensor is reading and what the IAT sensor is reading, it will throw a CEL. Who knew?

In the meantime, the car is driveable. I will also let them know of this service bulletin.
