I also couldnt pass up the price I worked or the items on the interior- it was an order cancel.
Congrats on the new ride Vic, seems like the 997TT is a great move now that you can get some pretty sweet deals on them. Like you, I do not miss my clutch pedal one bit. My left leg shakes at the thought of taking the Supra out.

Congratz on a new ride and enjoy it!

p.s: Protomotive! do it! lol
Vic,
Congrats on the new ride. Its a beauty.

Joon,
Be patient and diligent about your search. Prices are falling like craters since the cabs and GT2s are coming out. Furthermore the economy is in the tanker so prices are coming down. My car should be finished being buit by early spring. It would be nice to get the band back together. We could roll down to Waterfest in 2008 and park on the inside this time.

Oh I have, in the OC 405 traffic after a long day its nice to be able to chill. I also used it today in the rain with traffic- no reason to get all racey and take a chance in spinning out. But other than the above reasons, D mode is non existent in a good way.

Haha!! I was cruising with a white M5 last night, and he reminded me of Shamu (he had a few black out stuff). Very nice set of cars.

If one were to plan to go full bore GMG, would you start with a 997 chassis or save the money and get a 996? Keep in mind that this will be my thrashing car. Many track days, etc. The E is going to be my DD, but I need a toy. The 996 is so cheap right now and I just want the raw performance.

Do the AWDs do that, too? I love the throttle steer on P-cars and BMWs. I miss that. I haven't driven a 911 since I got to drive a 1988 (I think. It was a 993) white Turbo S for a weekend (birthday present from uncle that has a dealer). I was already in love, but that sealed the deal.

A little OT but its my thread

Get a 996 and mod the crap out of it, the 997 turbos are still a bit of a mystery and changing them out is a royal PITA I hear. Get with Vadim and he will tell you more. You can pick up a low mile 996TT and do much to it, just like Josh and Frank did here earlier.

Jangy,
I agree with Vic and say go with a 996. If you are going to tune it don't even worry about paying up for the x50 pacakge because you will be upgrading the turbos anyway. You might want to consider a 996 GT2 if it won't be your daily driver. Just be careful when looking for a GT2 because from what I have seen and read a lot of them have been wrecked and rebuilt. Its an unforgiving car (GT2) with no traction control and can probably easily get out of the hands of an inexperienced driver. But if you have been on the track before and want something to throw around, I think the 996 GT2 is your car.

Even though you can get a great deal on the 996TT, just save for the 997, i hate the interior of the 996. Even if its for the track, its a boring place to be in. The 997 is just so much more improved in everyway then a 996.

It's true, but for those who really want to mod there cars (hybrid-turbos/turbo swaps) and get 650-800hp, then the 996 is still the way to go. That is, if you are strictly a power guy. Plus I think the exterior of the 996 is almost as nice as the 997. When the dual clutch, facelifted and direct injection 997TT comes out, I am sure prices of 07's will drop.
