Glad you weren't hurt man........
I agree with the others that you should just fix it without a claim and keep your record clean. The damage is not too bad, as I've seen much worse pictures posted here on the forums.

Fur trimmed bumpers might be the next big thing........unless the greenies get upset.
Insurance sure sucks in the USA. In Oz you pay the deductible ONLY if its your fault and your insurance resets back to maximum no claim after 2 years. For some of us you never lose the no claim bonus, ever.

And the furriest, apparently.
I'll look em up, thanks.
I spoke to my insurance agent today and she said that my deductible is 100.00 and since my accident history is stellar, there would be no rate increase but I will have a claim on my record. Now, if this deer goes back to his friends and they decided that one of them is going to run into my car every 6 months, I may have a problem.
Stupid deer.
I'll go get an estimate and go from there.
EuroPros. Ask for Jack....

Out Of Control!
Glad you didn't kill Bambi.
Anyway as for you current situation. Depending on who your insurance is.
File a claim and just tell them Bambi came out of nowhere. They should be able to repair/fix that bumper and your insurance shouldn't go up.
Good luck.

FWIW, 5 years ago I hit an empty 5 gal bucket on I95 with my E 430 (well like 10 cars hit it, it was like a pin ball, in heavy 85 mph traffic) When I checked it out the lower valence had a crack, smaller than yours, and down low by the center of the grill. I though may be $500 to repair and touch up paint, WRONG most of the tabs and mounts were broken and I needed a new bumper cover/cap and some mounting hardware, Total estimate $3500 but ended up costing $3900. Now just a word of advise the W211 has much more aluminum up front and is more delicate than the W210 so check the fender fitments and alignment closely not all damage is first most apparent.

Deer might be stupid, but it is also a stud: how many of us would run off, full speed, after getting popped by the Beast.
Keep that Deer hair, make a fake mustache out of it.
Your insurance question is timely: I have USAA, arguably one of the best; recently I hit a "pot hole" and cracked stock AMG wheel. I was hoping this was a "comprehensive" thing, but no, it is "collision." During my call with them, when I discovered this, the USAA rep said "however, if you had hit an animal, for example, it would have been comprehensive...." and I replied "now that I think about it, I think it was a deer I hit..." Even the call center agent didn't go for that so, being against the "collision" portion of my policy, IF I had had recent other accidents, rates would go up.
All this to say, I bet your event goes against "comprehensive" and thus should have no impact on rates. My hope anyway.
thnx

lol..some refer to them as EuroSlow. Last week I had a fender bender with my daily beater (maxima). Would I go to them to have it fixed -- hell no. It's going to Darcars to be fixed. Now if it were my pcar there's no other - slow, not cheap but well worth it.

So, what do you guys think the odds are of hitting another deer the very next night?
Coming home from work tonight, I was coming to an intersection. A car was in the opposite lane coming towards me and as I slowed to about 35mph a deer darts out of the woods from my right. I lock up the brakes and come to a complete stop, just barely tapping the deer's ribcage. The deer just stops and stands in the other lane and the car coming at me locks up his brakes. He comes to a rest about 5 yards from her. Then it just leisurely walks off the road and disappears into the darkness. WTF?
No damage at all this time, none. That's one of the few times that I've done a panic stop at anything more than 10-15MPH and I gotta say that this **** stops on a dime.
Anyway, the bodyshop that's gonna do the work from the first incident is upgrade friendly. I'm just trying to decide if I should go E55 or E63 front end.
Decisions, decisions....

Now the deer are just toying with you. Keep a Louisville Slugger in the front seat and play Whack-A-Deer with the next one that tries that *****. They're all laughing at you when you drive off. Haven't you seen that insurance commercial with the squirrels?

.... nothing to brag about, it is a previous model....
Good thing that you are ok.
Actually, fiber glass can be repair. ( they use some kind of super-glue thingy apply on it, buff, and repaint - ASC, VA did a great job on my old W210 ) Although, they charged me $80 for that fiberglass repair kit alone. Which I found it should cost less than $30 in every auto part store.
I would suggest you just repair and "section" repaint it for following reasons...
1. OEM flex paint is much stronger.
2. You going to notice color difference if paint entire bumper compare to your body ( I used to live in DC area for more than 20 years, I know how acid rain/ summer sun will make your color tends to fade specially w/ matellic color)
3. You can't just "upgrade" to 07 bumper w/out replacing your grill, fog light bracket, fog lights, bumper mesh
If you want to save money, you can buy the fiberglass repair kit from PepBoys and apply them yourself.
Bring your car to any body shop have them buff it and section paint it.

Sure did, thanks. Working with Derek. He's gonna try to work it out so I get an E55 nose instead. But he's also stating 6 business days from the time I drop it off. Sound like a long time to put on a front bumper and line up a fender.
That place is slammed with cars. I mean tons. Nothing but P-Cars, Mercs and BMWs....

Yes, they usually have tons of cars to drool on over. And they will have your car for a bit. Not to hijack, but what MB dealer in the area is recommended for warranty work?
TIA.
TIA.

That's mainly because I work in Germantown and they're only 2 miles away.
