LOL!! I know it is blasphemy.
Oldgixxer and Enzom have really crushed alot of "haters" "doubters" "skeptics"
Going back a few years here doing some research I found that many 55 owners did not believe a "stock" 55 could run sub 12 seconds.........Guess what , housclass does it not once but a couple times.. Then boom Enzom does it, and a couple more guys are right there running 12.0..Last May nobody thought, and I mean nobody even me thought we could ever see low 12 in a 63. Pro driver takes his 63 out runs 13 at 108 and throws in the towel. After months of scathing debate, and my correction factor arguments we could see it was going to be hard but a 63 could run low 12 and perhaps 11. The 55 held up better hot lapping, it remained steady while the 63 fell off alot. The 55 jumped me 99% of the time but wow go to Oldgixxer and Enzom's track event and the results are OPPOSITE, Oldgixxer gets the jump and is pulled all the way down the track??? So months of data which tells me the 55 is better in the 1/8th and the 63 better in the back 1/8th , flushed away... Its amazing how close the two cars are with such different powertrain philosophies. The EL toro airfeild can be rented for a few k we could do a high speed event here in So cal legally.

Not sure what you mean by fastest, Juicee. I think you are referring to a roadcourse. If so, I really think the M5 would teach anything from AMG a lesson or two on a track. Just sayin.
The highest trap I can recall running in my car is a 118.79, on an 11.80X run. I can check some old slips when I get home to see if I have trapped higher, but I would remember a 119. I actually considered leaving my tire pressure stock at the last rental just to see if I could hit 120, but nixxed it. Lower tire pressure costs you speed but picks up time at the launch. Again - a tradeoff.

The trap speed stuff is critical if you have a higher trap than 118.70 I would love to see it! I think we are really making progress on cleaning up the records.

Yeah the M5 would beat the 63 on a road course maybe..LOL My comments are based on the V12 equipped E series rocket and CLS equipped rocket. The CLS is more stable at high speed, maybe just because of weight. It broke the world record for top speed. Brabus Rocket CLS.. LOL. On the track I have tried and tried and tried to race a 55 in cls form but there are not that many and I know what would happen. My CLS is fastest was out of context but does demostrate one feature of the wider stance that helps stability.

I'll find the slip.

Okay guys, I may have put it incorrectly in my previous post. I didn't mean the E55 was faster, I meant quicker in the 1/4 mile. According to all data we have compiled at the different tracks, and also according to AMG themselves (at the AMGFEST06), the E55 is 0.1 to 0.2 seconds faster than the E63 in the 1/4 mile.
However....... the E63 does have a strong top-end pull, and does pull on the E55 at higher speeds. So if both cars were to race in a 1/2 mile track, I believe the E63 would definately win.
To summarize, the general consensus is the E55 is quicker, but the E63 is faster. And as many of you have said, both of these cars are so close in performance that it ends up being a drivers race.......![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

I have driven both the cars several times above the 200 and 300 km/h but the E 55 is really faster.
With the old aerodynamic the E 55 runs 300 km/h in the 4th gear, with the new aerodynamic it runs 307 km/h in 4th gear. And than you still have the 5th gear......

But why buy an E 63?
Better handling, better sound, better traction and springs!
Why keep your E55?
Faster, quiker and better dynamic seats.

The E 55 is faster, but the E 63 has a better aerodynamic, so the E 55 is faster with the new body on higher speed. And.......I can tell!

Sound is subjective. I love the supercharger whine on the 55's. Traction: yes, only because less torque. Just like how my CLK500 has more traction than an E63, does that mean its a faster car?
But we aren't comparing E55 and E63. We already know the differences and why you should get either one over the other. We are strictly debating speed. I still don't get why nobody can get an E63 and E55 together for a 30-155?

Didn't someone on these forums prove that the handling on the E55 and E63 were indeed the same? I think it might have been Jangy...

The reason I think the E63 would pull on the E55 at higher speeds is the same reason the M5 does: the E63 has a gearing advantage and gives very good hp high revs. I'm not saying the E63 is as fast as the M5 at the top-end, but I am saying it is much closer to the M5 than the E55 at the top-end.

I'm heading out to Florham Park very early this sunday(6am-ish),theres many great places to go flat out on 287 in Wayne,or even jump on 80 out towards The Gap and traffic is very light if nonexistant.
Also a great spot on 287 north right past Rte.208 heading towards Mahwah that I've hit near 200 on one of my bikesIf you want to get together&have some fun w this lemme know.Pretty sure I can get a passenger who can get it on vid.

When both cars ran on the same track at the same time, both cars were extremely close. Sometimes, the E63 would be 0.2 seconds faster, and other times the E55 would 0.2 seconds faster. This is from comparing data collected from 3 different tracks here in California. On average, however, the E63 trapped a little higher.
