2005 E55 ///AMG
The E55 is supposed to be .2 seconds faster then the E63. I believe the CLS63 is heavier (4210 lbs) than the E63 (4035 lbs). Power and torque are equal.
Logic would dictate (captain!) the CLS would be .175 seconds slower than the E63 given the same weight of the driver.
Thus it would be .375 seconds slower than the E55 given the same driver.
Now let the fun begin!

What makes E55 faster then E63? Higher Torque does not necessarily mean faster. Since E63 develops higher HP (based on torque over higher RPM range) that should give E63 an advantage.
Can someone tell me (based on facts) why E55 should be faster then E63?

Well, here's some data...the fastest 1/4 mile time yet recorded for a stock E63 is 12.127. The fastest 1/4 mile time yet recorded for a stock E55 is 11.775. Five different stock E55s have recorded 1/4 mile times that are faster than the fastest E63.

In what ? the 0-60 or the 1/4 mile ?
Any car can win on any given track, it's the little things that matter,timing,launch and the driver. I dont believe for a second that the 55 is faster than the 63.. A tenth of a second here or there doesnt matter, the 63 is so much better looking interior and exteriorwise, The car just looks a lot fresher and the 63 wheels are bad *** compared to the dated wheels of the 55. To each it's own.

Okay guys, I may have put it incorrectly in my previous post. I didn't mean the E55 was faster, I meant quicker in the 1/4 mile. According to all data we have compiled at the different tracks, and also according to AMG themselves (at the AMGFEST06), the E55 is 0.1 to 0.2 seconds faster than the E63 in the 1/4 mile.
However....... the E63 does have a strong top-end pull, and does pull on the E55 at higher speeds. So if both cars were to race in a 1/2 mile track, I believe the E63 would definately win.
To summarize, the general consensus is the E55 is quicker, but the E63 is faster. And as many of you have said, both of these cars are so close in performance that it ends up being a drivers race.......
However....... the E63 does have a strong top-end pull, and does pull on the E55 at higher speeds. So if both cars were to race in a 1/2 mile track, I believe the E63 would definately win.
To summarize, the general consensus is the E55 is quicker, but the E63 is faster. And as many of you have said, both of these cars are so close in performance that it ends up being a drivers race.......
