i hate myself
I somehow managed to hit a curb last night popping my tire and severly damaging one of my rims. Anyone know the price on getting a new rim/tire put on by the dealer? Or does anyone know where i can get one for a decent price?

Consider refinishing it. These guys can get AMG silver dead on for $150 including the repair of the rim lip:
http://www.trudesignwheel.net
They did all 4 of my E55 wheels in a very difficult black smoke color and repaired 2 of my C32 wheels that I bent up pretty badly. They have also done many other far more exotic wheel repairs for me and people that I know...all have turned out great.
BTW, If you truly hate yourself, I know a great therapist!

i probably hit the curb in excess of 20 mph, so im not sure if these are going to be fixable but ill give them a call. After your wheels were repaired did you feel any difference in driveablilty?

I assume that it was a front wheel. What kind of tire is it? About two years ago, I bent my front wheel. So I bought a refurbished OEM wheel and Conti tire for about $500 with shipping. I put my PS2 tire on the purchased rim and sent my original wheel to be fixed for about $200. When I got the rim back, I had them mount the brand new Conti tire on it. It is sitting in my garage as my emergency extra wheel/tire and is in perfect shape. PM me if you want to buy it for $500 - which is what I paid at the time. I am not too far from you.

Jim is the owner and can tell you if it can be fixed. If he can't fix it properly, he won't touch it. Also, he is a retired racer that has raced at Indy so he understands performance and safety.

Avoid the dealer... I hit a curb at 20 mph on my E60 M5 when I had it last summer. Went to a dealer and got charged 950 CDN $ for a stupid rim, I got it installed and ballanced at my friends place for 50 bucks. It would have cost me 200$ max to repair it... I was too anxious to fix it though. Make sure your wheel barring is ok though, I had problems with that. Also, just recently I hit a pothole cracking my rim. I got it fixed for 180$... good as new!

sounds like an excuse to me, this way you don't have to race oldgixxer tomorrow...
just joking, sorry to hear about the mishap, one of your wheels is probably worth more than my truck!

I doubt the wheel is beyond repair. Even if it split in half between the beads a good wheel shop can safely repair it. Check your local area ads and get a reference or two (or just call the guys linked above). 20mph is nohting!

yeah actually it couldnt have been worse, i was basically infront of my house. cat ran out and instead of running it over i swerved like an ***. But yeah as soon as i get it fixed i will be meeting up with gixxer, our race in mexico is just basically going to be an experiment to see which model is faster, no hard feelings obviously. Thanks for the help guys, i gave the wheel another look and its not as bad as i thought so i should be able to get it repaired soon.

1. AMG Rim replacement: $850'ish
2. 2x new PS2s: $600'ish (did not want 1x PS2 on the port bow, and half-used one on the starboard bow)
3. Dealer labor: $150
4. Feelings of having the car perform exactly as before the accident: priceless
I don't like to mess around with this kind of stuff, so I paid full fare at the dealer. Some things I don't skimp on, my E55 is one of them. College fund for the kids? Well, that's fair game, but my Animal: only the best.
Note: after sitting on the side of the highway, breathing heavy with fear and anxiety, after hitting a curb so hard that I thought the entire car was totallled, I checked out the damage and could see NOTHING from the outside. Only after the tow truck removed the wheel did I see the intense BEND in the rim, on the inside of the rim. Non fixable. Dealer brought me inside the service bay to see under the car: nothing else damaged; not even out of alignment.
So I learned many things, including: this car is solid as a rock: the fact that NOTHING but the rim was damaged, as hard as I hit that curb, and now another 5k miles afterwards, with no follow up problems? Great car.
Priceless.
thanks
