I have a friend who has the Kleemann K4 Package on his '03 SL55 and he is happy with the 640hp results. I've talked to Renntech about installing their Stage 6 Package on my SL, but I don't know of anyone that has it installed on their 55. The Renntech has upgraded intercoolers, whereas the Kleemann has upgraded cams.
Both Packages are OK for the norm, but if you want to transform your 55 Kompressor into an all out monster, look into VRP's VR700 and 5.7L Engine Build Kits. I attached both threads below. Enjoy!

I agree, if you're going to spend this much money on mods, VRP will give you a much better bang for the buck.

For a ECU upgrade on a SL55 who would you guys go with Kleemann, Renntech or VRP and why ?

Renntech 100%. They have in-house TECHs. Not It's VRP's tune done by another tuner or EVO's tune done by another tuner and the best one is that the same tuner sells thier own tune also Originally Posted by xircom200

WOW, I wounder who they do the best tune for? Renntech does all thier own work in-house from fabbing to tuning to head work everything. None of this "my machine shop guy got sick" or they went out of busines or better yet they had a bigger account and put our shop on the back burnner.. Yes, I have heard it all
How can you tune an ECU if you don't even have your own DYNO
ANY QUESTIONS? Hope this helps you. PM me for more updatesMBWorld Fanatic!
I'm sure Renntech makes a awesome product but at a very high price tag. I know Powerchips does VRP but the end product is still very good and the price point is way lower then Renntech. For the same price it would cost for a Renntech pulley you could purchase a pulley and tune from VRP, LET, and a couple others. Me personally, I had a certain amount of money that would go to my mods and I wanted the best bang out of my buck. VRP provided this for me and I'm very happy with my results. Plus VRP (Vadim) was only a few hundred miles from me. JMHO. Good luck.

I always lean toward "use the best shop that is closest to you"
You are very close to LET country in Chitown.
Amazing results coming out of LET and I believe they will custom tune your car on the dyno for extra cash of course.
Just an idea and they are right in your backyard.
Renn, Klee and VRP are all good guys. No worries with any of them.

Jackpro, do you believe there's a lot more hp usually left on the table for custom dyno tuning?
I don't see a Renntech Stage 6 for the E55...or is that just what they call Stage 5 PLUS?

I believe for stage 6, all they add is the SLR style intercoolers + additional custom tuning.Originally Posted by Tranman

RennTech is a great company. I've had great success with it in the past, and their products are very high quality, but yeah.... they are more expensive than others but that's why you have choices now.

The RENNtech package 6 provides, an ECU tune, 178 crank pulley, water pump pulley, headers, 82mm throttle body, headers, airbox and intercooler upgrade.
We have a few customers who have this package, please let me know if I can answer any questions for you.

I've seen a renntech stage6 and it is something to be witnessed. 623hp. 82mm throttle body, headers pulleys, airbix software, Intercooler shaft driven pump, heat exchanger. Over priced yes, but man this car is insane.

I had RENNTech software in my '04 SL600, and it is not worth twice the price of what other tuners offer. RENNTech, inspite of having "in house techs" still seems to have a lot of similar issues. Refer to Victor's thread about load limiters... there's people in there with RENNTech tunes and a RENNTech SLK55 who has the same problem as the rest of us... but you'd think for the price RENNTech charges they'd be that much better than everyone else?
There is no such thing as a perfect tuner. It's also naive to think that because one charges the most, they must be the best. Doesn't always work like that.
I'm very happy with my VRP550 kit, and I'd love to see a RENNTech car with the same mods as me strap down to the dyno or run at the drag strip and show me his car is worth double the pricetag.
