It may come from the vents. I get a whistling sound too if I dont have enough vents open. Worsens if the moon roof is open.
The way I found out was to set the climate control to blow out the front vents, set the force to med/high, and then closed all the front vents. You may here a whistling sound. Then slowly open the front vents one by one and it should go away. Also, if you adjust to blow out the top or bottom vents, it should go away.
Also found that if I have the force set to med/high and the passager side closes his vents, it makes that sound.
I am taking in to the dealer next Friday. I'll let you know what they tell me.
