No it won't be. For a new E to arrive for 2009 we would seen it officially by now. The SLK and SL are facelifted for 2009 and have been presented already. The E will be new for the 2010 model year. All (SL is the only exception now) Mercedes cars go 7 years, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, with the 2009 model year being the last year of the W211. For a new E to arrive here by Sept-Oct (2009 model year) it would need to debut in Europe now and that simply isn't happening. CLK and E both came out for 2003 and will show up in Europe year and here late next year for the 2010 model year.

in answer to your question, the new e class model w 212 will be a 2010 model
debut in sept 2009..

I have seen prototype and spy testing pics on it already and will likely get invited to see it in europe probably around JAN 2009

the differences are purely cosmetic, for the most part, using the look that the
new C class, and the CL class have now, a more square modern look...
the rear quarter panels are slightly wider and different, as are the front panels, and the grille and hood are slightly different.. gauge changes and perhaps the command unit may change as well.. adopting from the C and CL class

I understand wheels will be slightly wider.. 255 front, and 275 rear as well

they may tweak the engine slightly, but that is not assured.. possiby bringing it to around 402 HP up about 20 HP

the most changes to the mechanics and electronics were done in 2007 already with some 2200 changes to the platform, and another 50 or so slight changes in 2008 mostly to comply with DOT and fuel requirements..
