interesting encounter
I was coming back from an awesome early breakfast at the Cottage in LaJolla SD. it was early and very little traffic, but i kept it cool 70-75 all the way back to carlsbad (visiting fam). so I get off the fwy and start driving down the street with wifey in the car. I saw a blk 360 modena convert. behind me. I told my wife and the car was beautiful. so the guy driving the car whips around another to get on the side of me. and we come to a red light and the road is wide open. then he starts looking at me and I then knew he was going to try and roll on me. my wife said you got a be kidding right. I told her we'll probably loose. the light turned green and this guy took off like a bat out of hell. his exhaust was screaming at me. then I started closing in. then he looked at my wife as I passed him and when I got a car ahead I hit the brakes and tried to give him a thumbsup. he just gave me a dirty look a speed off. my wife said he looked mad as we passed him. I am really impressed with the 55 as I am a big Ferrari fan. I surely thought the guy would smoke me due to the power to weight ratio. I guess I was wrong.

I've got video of my 55 walking them and a few lambos on straights during a road rally.
Don't confuse a sports car with raw TQ. There simply are not that many cars faster than ours IN A STRAIGHT, and especially from a dig. It is an elite group that includes few true sports cars.

I was totally shocked. I thought the guy would walk me. he didn't even want a talk. he just looked at me like what ever. even my wife was surprised. The car reeled him in like a tuna.

You've got over 250 lb. ft. on the 360. and over a 100 hp. Not to mention his power peak is 8500, and his torque peak is 4750. This is not a surprise at all. His power to weight is ~8.2 lbs. per hp. Yours is as well. So actually, you shoulda kicked his ***. Which is what you did.
I can bet he's not too happy about that.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
the 355/360s werent entirely made for straight-line speed...... more like the driving sensation of a rear-engine italian sports car, the feel of the vehicle and sound of motor is what you buy-- two entirely different machines..........

I too, had an encounter with a 360 convertible. My wife was in the car with me and we raced 3 times; from a slow roll, 40ish, and 70ish. Each time I walked away with ease. He was very impressed and was quite congenial about the whole affair.
I will add that his car was absolutely beautiful and it sounded like an Italian symphony when it was at wide open throttle.

yeah i am a big fan of the 360SC because of the driver experience. stripped down to heard everything and the car seems really purpose built. It's a goal for me to get one. I just hope it doesn't become a big collectible and become unaffordable before I am ready to buy.
