Solution for CEL?

Hi everyone!
haven't been posting much lately...
but, im goin to Jersey for about a week to fix my car next Friday..
(I'm in Indiana right now...)
Last time i was there, i had one of the best mechanic check my car again
since i've been dealing with this CEL.
he performed every test one could possibly do...(compression test,.........)
he said nothing too serious and internal and told me it's only misfiring from
the right side. (i was so happy to hear that its nothing internal~cuz some stupid tuner told me i have a bad compression on two of my cylinders)
anyways, my question is what could cause CEL to come on.
over the past few months, i noticed my exhaust got alot louder....
could it be damaged cat? ( i only have secondary since i have K2)
any help would be appreciated...

I don't remember reading any other posts from you on your CEL so forgive me for asking some basic questions that you probably have been hammered with.

1) Is your ECU from Kleemann, Klee has had some problems with K2 cars having certain CEL problems. You would have to know the exact code the car is throwing before calling Cory. If your car has Kleemann headers and NO ecu from Kleemann, then THAT is your problem. Klee software takes out the CEl from first cat being removed.

If that is not the CEL, can you let us know what code it is throwing. If you don't know....gotta snag a OBDII scanner, or at least pop over to Autozone and have them read the code for us.

Throw us that code and I bet we can help a lot.

Last, you got a stealer nearby that is mod friendly. Star would pickup on that code quick.

I do have Kleemann ECU along with headers and pulley.
it's been on my car for almost 2 years now (i think..)
i dont know about the code number, but i know its a misfirng code from right side. Unfortunately, my car is Jersey now....but, like i said, im goin to Jersey next Friday to get it fixed....So, i was hoping to get a list of what could cause this CEL to come on from you guys...
btw, i know its kind of a stupid question, but my mechanic told me the right exhaust hanger is broken and it needs to be replaced... could it cause CEL to come on? i hear crazy loud rattling/whining noise from the pipe whenever i drive...
Also, i bottomed out couple times at a hand car wash that i go to...(just the piping area) and that night is when my CEL came on for the first time...before then, my car was running super strong....

If your getting the code at low revs, then its probably either:
-a bad spark plug
-or a faulty coil

Try this:
Find out which cylinder the code is reffering to and try pulling out the plugs (both of them)
If one or both are wet, then replace them with new ones and see if that solves the problem.
If not, then its probably the coil to that cylinder. (Although my money is on the plugs being the problem)

K2 + CEL + Louder Engine + bottomed out your exhaust?

Check your headers. I bet they're loosing pressure. I've seen a few K2's with headers loosening up.

Yeah, check your headers and downpipes very closely. A cracked header will absolutely throw a CEL. It will also negatively impact performance.

Do not push your car until you diagnose the problem.

Yes Joon, and this is exactly what happened to Jody's(Mig-E55-Rocket) car.
Cracked header,louder exhaust,and CEL. A few have experienced the Kleemann headers cracking but not everybody.

Jeffrey fixed the cracked header which also took care of the CEL.

if thats the case, it would be my 3rd cracked header~
what about damaged cat that i mentioned before?
could it cause CEL?

Carl~what's up man? i only have a week to fix this, don't know if it's long enough to fix the car....definately wanna get it done and get my car detailed and put it in the garage~anywayz, ill definately call u....if u could talk to Roustin(?) about my car, it would be awesome!

Sounds like an exhaust leak. If the headers are ok check the rest of the piping. You may have punctured a pipe when you bottomed out. The exhaust hanger wouldn't trip a CEL.

Or you can go the ghetto way and just remove your CEL bulb from the instrument cluster!

i wouldnt go the ghetto way tho~lol
when the CEL comes on and i drive for awhile, it would start to blink and i would feel no power (for about 30 sec) then, it stays on after and my car would be fine.... then, it repeats the same thing over and over...

It's pretty common, more than you'd know. The header flanges tend not to fit right in the first place, and without a section of flex-pipe many headers crack when the exhaust is put under pressure (like bottoming out), especially hot ones.

You said you were at the car wash when it happened, right?

Q: What happens to metal when you heat it up and then pour water on it?
A: It becomes extremely brittle.

Dropped my car off at a dealer this morning~
seems like they are struggling to find out what it is just like i did for almost half year...
My SA told me it should be done tomorrow.. i found out that there is no exhaust leak plus my headers are fine! that was a good news, otherwise Kleemann !!! lol

btw, anybody know a good welder in New Jersey??? (Bergen county area?)
my hanger needs to welded and thats where the noise was coming from. wasn't my exhaust or engine.
