Reseting Moonroof Procedure......I hope this help!!
Hi all,
This moonroof reseting procedure was giving to me by a MB tech at the dealer that I bought my car from. I hope this help!!!!!
Steps:
1) Open or try to open your moonroof all the way. Once it is fully opened, push the moonroof button toward the rear passenger sit and hold it for a good 5 seconds then release.
2) Upon completion of step 1, close or try to close the moonroof all the way. Once the moonroof is fully closed, push the moonroof button toward the winshield and hold it for a good 5 seconds then release.
3) Upon completion of step 2, open or try to open the moonroof to the tilt up-ward position ( like a triangle /_ ). Once it is fully tilt, push the moonroof button up toward the sky and hold it for a good 5 seconds then release.
This simple procedure will help you to reset your moonroof.
Mike

Did I miss something? Reset it to what?
Please explain, I'm really curious. Is this for Pano roofs also? What is it supposed to accomplish?
Thanks

If you loose batter power, the sunroof often needs to be reset. The symptom is that it will only move .5" at a time and stops. If this occurs, it needs to be reset and will then function normally. The windows should also be run up and down and the wheel should be run lock to lock (full left to full right) to reset everything if battery power has been interrupted.

So that's why the roof sucks in my car. It drove me crazy every time I wanted to open it, because it would just a little at a time. I will give this a shot. Thank you for posting this.

Thanks for the tip! I just reset my sunroof and everything is back to normal.
My sunroof wasn't closing all the way and would stop about 3in. Then it would reopen fully. I couldn't understand why it was doing that.
Thanks again for posting this.

Just to let y'all know...my sunroof would close about half way and then go back to the open position. I thought I had to reset it or some "big brother" device got tripped. Anyway, when Roadside Assistance came to jumpstart my car (and ultimately replaced my battery), he told me just to spray the rails with WD-40...works just fine now!

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
I tried this process three times and still when I press the one-touch button to close roof when it's open, it shuts all the way and immediately retracts back about 1/3 of the way.... I have to hold button to close..... so much for one touch!

Try disconnecting your battery for a few minutes to reset the sunroof, then perform the resync procedure in your manual, or above

Does anyone know how to fix the sunroof not closing all the way? What happens is I will have the sunroof open and I’ll push the controller to the closed position past the stop (so it’s supposed to close all the way w/o having to hold it). The sunroof will proceed to close, but it’ll get w/in about 1” – 2” and it’ll reopen to about 4” and stop. I think it’s a safety feature that senses when something is in the way and keeps the roof from smashing fingers, etc. It may be experiencing some extra drag and need its “finger smashing” sensor recalibrated (that’s the technical term, BTW :-P). Does anyone know anything about this?

Hey we got our E55's ECU flashed yesterday.
2 days prior to that we also disconnected the battery when doing something.
So because one of those reasons the sunroof will not pop up or open. All I hear is a clicking sound and nothing else.
I can get past step one becuase it simply will just not open, anyone know what the problem may be?
