2008 E63 dyno disaster !!!!!

whats the deal with this car on a dyno ??????? figured it would get AT LEAST get 450hp to the wheels but it only got 300 1st and 303 the 2nd time. Car started to lagg @5000 rpm and drop every time .

Is it because i still have not done the 1000-3000 service ?
Or is it that they govern the HP for the break in period ?
I really dont think so since on the street its lighting up the tires in 3rd gear .
The dyno guy said that the cpu shuts it down when its on a dyno sometimes , Has anyone ever heard of this ?

Does anyone know why the car is doing this ? Please give me some info .
If this car for 100k can only get 300hp to the wheels ill bring it back tomorrow .

Something is definitely wrong with the car, even without the dyno mode and extreme heat, you'd figure at least 340-350whp. It could also be a dyno problem, some of them are not calibrated properly and often malfunction.

However, 450 at the wheels is impossible, these cars dyno 380-390whp stock and in rare instances, 400-410whp.

its more like 18%

should see around 410 to 420..

definately not 450.

AMG uses a heavy duty torque converter that robs more power than other drivetrains...

410-420 is the number you should see
If the car is lighting up the tires in 3rd you have no reason to be worried, dynos are all different&the real dyno is the dragstrip;the numbers don't lie there

fyi, 450 rwhp would be right around 550 at the crank and that is not happening.

So is your car broken in? I'm guessing if its not then this may be the issue. I'm not an expert on this so don't flame me fellas if i'm wrong.

Also, is this your first benz? First AMG?

Could it be that his ESP is on (since not in dyno mode) and that is reducing power?

first AMG. HAD 4 BENZ'S PRIOR.

FOUND OUT IT WAS THE DYNO MODE THAT WE DID NOT SHUT DOWN THAT CAUSED THE PROBLEM

E63 stock will not dyno at 450 hp to wheels. Like others have said, the number you should expect is 410 to 420 whp (which is about 500 hp at the crank).

Also, I would wait until 5,000 miles before another dyno. It is possible that the ECU is regulating power until the engine is fully broken in.

malakasnyc:

On the 63s, you do not need to use dyno mode.

First two runs will be TQ limited by ESP. On the third run it will show a fault on the dash and than allow full power.

Stock car will be in 410-420 RWHP, 360-380RWTQ.

If you really wanna be gangster (notice I didn't say 'gangsta') in Miami you should go to the Forge. There is really nothing quite like that place. It was started back in the 60s/70s by Meyer Lansky's right-hand guy, I think his kid runs it now.

Actually it is because of lower torque numbers dyno mode should be used. It will achieve the best #s.

Here is a 63 that hit over 450 at the wheels stock. And I know of another CLS 63 (TREZ) who hit 440! so yeah it can happen but its about 1% of the cars, most dyno at 400-420 385-405tq
