I'm considering a Q7 for my wife, so I was visiting the Audizine forum. Came across this post from someone who claims he works at Fletcher Jones in Newport.

Wow, looks like he has a high opinion of MB and MB owners

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

As a Mercedes Benz employee at the largest MB dealer in the world (I'm also in the Air Force Reserves, so don't flame me too bad), I can give you firsthand knowledge on MB owners and our "awesome" cars.

#1. MB owners could be the most idiotic owners alive. I've yet to meet one that couldn't be taken advantage of by our crafty service writers. They know absolutely NOTHING about their cars.

#2. Our cars are pieces of crap. There's a reason I won't be caught dead driving a Mercedes if I'm not at work. It's a status symbol, plain and simple. Reliability? ****, my 7 year old S4 is more reliable than half the cars MB makes.

The C63 will sell fairly well, just like all the other AMG's. However, the M3 has shows its true colors and capabilities in this episode. I'm not a big Bimmer fan, but wow...that M3 is going to be badass competitor to the RS4.

I didn't realize that getting service done now is like buying a used car. You have to dicker and argue your way past the fraud down to the honest asking price of the service.

Crafty Service Writers???? So now the average Joe is supposed to know everything about his car when going into service? What's the average Joe supposed to do when the service department calls him and tells him he needs a certain part and that is costs X amount of dollars??? Take it to Bob's Auto Garage for a 2nd opinion.

I am really pi-ssed about this and have a good mind about forwarding this post to Benz headquarters. Obviously his name is Tom and he works at one of the dealers in SoCal.

This scum needs to be working over at Audi since he gets so much wood from his.

Now that we know his name, someone ought to print off a copy of this thread and fax it to the service manager at fletcher-jones.

Nothing like an employee not only bashing who he works for but the very product that puts food on his table. Having an opinion is fine but suggesting "crafty service tactics" is a heavy accusation , leveling this in a public forum is likely "not good"

Well, here is the proof. He is a parts guy at Fletcher Jones. We pretty much got the guy at this point.

Anyone wanna pull the trigger on this one?

I feel bad getting the guy in trouble, but man, that be some serious charges he is throwing around.

Here he is bragging about the same company that he is TRASHING earlier. Guess we aren't such scum of the earth when it comes to impressing the Audi guys.

Evil. However, I don't tend to ever like anyone to do with stealers so it's evil in a good way. Sounds like he's called Matt, not Tom.

Guys, please lets not do anything. Guy is a serviceman and I respect that, though I find his commentary ill given, and inappropriate to his employer.

I put a comment in the thread and I'm leaving it like that.

The guy literally just called all of us idiots as Mercedes owners...

That doesn't bother you? And you wana let him off because he's a service guy? I guess I disagree, because that's the part that irritates me the most...not something that makes me want to let it go.

All I have to say is that it is very obvious why this clown is selling and servicing MB's and not buying them! Enjoy your 7 year old VW pal, I hope for your sake it is very reliable, because you're going to be driving it for at least another 7 years.

All three of my Mercedes have needed much much less serive then my Audi did.
I can't see buying another Audi due to the extreemly poor service I have received from both dealerships I went to.
I can't say anything favorible about Fletcher Jones, and no that is not just because they "let me go" right before Christmas. I worked at one of the company's dealerships (probably the worst one) for over two years. But I will not talk sh*t about the cars, esp. now since they are very reliable.

Tool
We have all had bad days, and we have all *****ed about where we work, but posting this on a public forum of mostly Mercedes members Is way out of line for a parts advisor regardless of where he works. I don't think he should loose his job but why even test the water ??.....

Let’s says your‘re an SA or any other floor sales or mechanic/garage/banker/insurance job your job is to SELL products deals. The more you sell and make profit the more credit you get, yes they are partially to blame, but it’s the environment they work in that also forces them to do so. If you do not do it others will and will get credit meaning u lose out on $$/ promotion so...

Looking at it from a majority point of view I believe bnz is a status car from days past and well people who usually own such things car not for technical details and are clueless thus the generalisation, its only recently that more of the younger generation have come into the benz line ups but still perhaps not as much as other brands ( do not have figures but this is a guess).

Catching this guy might get him into trouble but will most likely not stop things like this going on, its basically up to the customer to wise up

Before I got my car I was after an M5 dealer had two, one of which i really liked and had red interior both same specs except for colours black and silver stone. Both same prices, so I opted for silver/red one, suddenly 2 days later, silver one was 8k sterling pounds more! Why I ask ooh sir it is a special order colour and was our mistake and your sale has been transferred to main sales manager.

What did I do....ill tell you. I went to his desk picked up an M5 brochure from it and went to the colour section options and pointed out, this red that you are charging me for is under standard option colours sir good day!

8k more for an inside colour that’s standard!
What a scam and this is from their head sales manager here in my country!!
