E55 AMG
ticking/cracking noise

After i drive my car when i turn it off the is this ticking/crackling noise that goes on for several minutes..It is comming from the front and rear of the car. Btw the its a 03 E55 18k miles.

Mine does the same. In my case it is the exhaust system cooling. Id say that is what yours would be.

Is this normal or is this a problem? Can it be fixed? Btw my IC pump is bad and the s/c shuts off very easily...could that have something to do with this?

It's normal. I just got my car back after they installed new cats, and it was snap crackle pop until everything cooled down. I haven't heard about a bad IC pump making that noise.

Even my '08 E63 makes the same noise.

+1 Both my CLS55 and E55 makes the same noise but I do have to say that my CLS55 does it alot more.

All cars do this to some extent.

Metal expands and contracts with changing temperatures, so things start creaking and moving around when you turn it off and things start to cool back off.
