My 06 E55 feels slow now, what benz is faster/quicker?
Well, 2 mos into my E55 I love it, but want something faster/quicker. What does benz offer that is quicker/faster than the E55 stock?

From what I remember reading, the E55 is either faster than anything else with a 55 engine or just as fast as anything with a 55 engine, if you want faster go with a 65. Right now you can get used CL65s for about 60k

If you're going to just be driving around town, the 55 is the way to go. The 65 really shines when it has room to stretch its legs. The problem with the 65 is that it has show much power/torque that its hard to put it down. My friend in his CL55 can take me at the line every time, though I always catch him!

) with some R1 compound tires. I say go 65 hustler. You get bored with that, have the ECU/TCU flashed for over 700hp. You get bored with that, it's 1000hp Supra/Viper time.

S600 vs E55 is closer but modded vs modded the V12 takes it.

2003 S600 ; 1999 E55 (sold)
S600 much more torque than the E55 but heavier, so IMHO it does not 'feel' as fast, especially since much quieter. No V8 musclecar rumble.
Top 1/4 times for both of them fully modded with nitrous are almost identical - high 10's.
S600 much more of luxury feel so I am not sure it would give you what you're looking for...you may have maxed-out the MB line my friend!
Would probably need to spend $20K anyways to get the E55 to the high 10's...may need to look into Porsche Turbo as alternate, as a first guess. If 4 dr sport sedan is criteria, may need to wait for the Caddy

2013 SL 550 (Previously 2012 Porsche Panamera Turbo-S, 2015 Tesla P85D, 2007 S600, 2005 E55 AMG)
I moved from an E55 to a new w221 S600... The S600 is marginally faster to 60 (I am convinced it is more like 4.2 seconds than the brochure 4.5) but as has been pointed out the car does not necessarily "feel" as fast subjectively... it is much less raw and much more insulated and the sensation of acceleration is largely watching that needle spin round the dial and watching everyone else rapidly vanish into the distance in your rear view... The S600 is also more extreme on gas consumption... (If you care) Cruising on the freeway I can hit 19/20 mpg... in town going up hill in slow traffic it can get as low as a miserable 9 or 10 mpg... My average is currently about 14 mpg... Brakes if not AMG sized or perfectly adequate to stop extremely quickly...
Handling wise however the S600 is really nimble... much of it down to the ABC Active Body Control which really does make the car feel like it is on rails... Putting on 19" wheels helps also... i was just talkin to my friend earlier about how my e55 doesnt feel fast to me anymore lol.. i was thinking to either wait for the new sl63... or a used maserati gransport(regardless of power), or 996 turbo.. and of course, cl/sl65
