*** VRP CLK63 Cabriolet Project ***

MBWorld Fanatic!
I have been working for 2 weeks researching this to try and get a complete list of everything needed...
Finally, after speaking with 3 different dealers, I have 21 pages worth of diagrams and part #s to do this.. Black Series stuff is almost as hard to find as the CLK-DTM stuff ... lol...
I think I now have a complete list of parts required to do the project.
We will be doing the full dual exhuast conversion and everything else required to make the outside of the car look like a Black Series.
In parts cost alone we are at almost $13,000 in case anyone else is thinking about doing this to their 63. I'll take some pics of the body panels once we receive everything and post them for you guys.

All the body panels were ordered.. we are waiting on the 2 rear quarter panels which were only available from Germany.. they should be here in 5 - 10 days.
The car is heading north to Montreal.. he is missing it because the weather is so nice.. We are doing the body work up here and then once he has had his fill of top-down driving, it will go back to Cali for S/C and engine upgrades.
I'll take pics of the progress once we start putting the body together.
As far as I know, this will be the FIRST BS widebody on a CLK63 Cab.
The goal is to convert the entire car over to BS styling (inside & out). We are just doing the outside parts first.

Will do.
Once we get the first set done and installed, we'll do some dyno testing and report back. If the power is there, they will go up for sale.
I believe we are looking at $1500 range for the headers.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)

We currently have 530hp kit for the 63 cars. We are hoping with headers + tuning to create a 560hp kit.
We figure 10 - 15hp for the headers and 10 - 15hp for the tune is realistic.

All of the Black Series panels have arrived in Canada.. The car is being taken apart and the reassembly will begin shortly.
They forgot to send the rear bumper, and we are having some trouble getting the rear quarter inner fender panels (the ones made from steel that are welded to the frame of the car).. Hopefully we can order these pieces because making them by hand is going to be a major ordeal..
I'll get some pics from my friend's shop soon and post some updates for you guys.

CLK 63 Black Series, 2009 S550, 2011 Range Rover Supercharged, BMW F800 GS Anniv Edition
Very cool project for sure and I can't wait to see the blower !!! But, wouldn't it have made more sense to take a slightly used Black Series (they can be had for less than 100k now) and just chop the top off ? Sure, it would be a full time cab, but at least all the suspension, body panels, wider track and all the other black series goodies would be in place....Just a thought.

The car is in Canada getting its widebody done.
Converting a narrow body CLK cabriolet to BS is not an easy task. Alot of research of parts and custom fabrication were required.
Here are some pics of the progress.. when this car is done, it will definitely be a one of a kind. Once the outer body work is done, its back to the performance part of the project. We will then continue on with the supercharger and block.
