Quote: How does this lowering fair to RENNTech ELM? Anyone?

With the SDS aka Star the car can be lowered aprox 1 and 1/4 inch..
the settings are set ...

With the ELM one can lower the car lower the car aprox 1 1/2 inch
one can change the settings as needed

Settings are SET until you hook up computer right? I work in the comp field, I can prob keep a little laptop hooked in. its WAY cheaper then RENN ELM

One WILL Need a SDS aka Star and OBD 2 Cables to access the menu via the Mercedes Multiplexor to change settings...Without the Multiplexor one cannot get into the Menu

If You Do figure out a way to access the Menu WITHOUT the SDS please do share the results!

..........I am a bit suprised they are just getting Star program now. No insult intended, but with all the work they do I would have thought that the first thing to get is star program. What have they been using all this time? An off the shelf OBD2 scanner like the rest of us?

$110 covers anything one wants to do to their cars through STAR. Additional $65 is for lowering, as it adds time in measuring and confirming corner heights.

Vadim:

What is "change spark timing settings" (item no. 3)?

What does it accomplish?

Depending on the model there are 3 or 2 timing maps that are for different grade of gas 89, 91 or 93. On some cars it is "base" vs. "premium".

What timing/octane should I use if in socal w/ ASP non-tuned?

Does it need a wheel alignment after lowering the car with STAR?

I have on 04 E500 can you enable:

- seat belt reminder? doesnt beep or anything when you unbuckle while driving (driver & passenger side).
- no trunk open reminder.

or perhaps this is normal in the 04's.

- adjust easy/exit feature threshold on the seats. I want it to go backwards all the way.

Roehl: Each model is different and I can not see what can be done until STAR is plugged into the car.

You are welcome to come by and we can see what can be done.

Please call in advance.

Thanks,

do you also do ECU update? I was kinda thinking, if the dealer updates my ECU all these changes done (10C, chirping, etc.) will revert back to default?

Roehl, yes we do ECU updates through our partner Powerchip.

As far as dealer reflashing your ECU, we can flash it back to your settings.

Tampa is pretty far from me im closer to Fort Lauderdale and Miami. There really arent any MB shops down down here besides renntech.

Is there any vacant land or building across the street from Renntech?? I think that would be an optimal place to put a VRP building..
