My car was 4186 and Darren was 4190 ... I don't know how they came up with those artificial names (probably some Hipaa law) but those are the slips that we ran.
I think that Bfnnrgn cam in at the same time as Darren so he should be 4189 or 91.

Here are the car numbers:
darren_dallas = 4190 (M5)
DFW01E55 = 4186 (CL55)
bfnnrgn = 4189 (SL55)

1/4 12.468 12.344
MPH 113.80 117.29
Below is my 3rd attempt in the M5 (used "mash and go"), also Mike (in the CL55) did not let his car cool down from the run before this one with me:
Car CL55 M5
r/t .305 .519
60' 2.124 1.950
330 5.702 5.290
1/8 8.473 7.980

1000 10.858 10.285
1/4 12.861 12.207
MPH 111.62 117.77
Below is my 2nd attempt in the M5 (used launch control):
Car M5 CL55
r/t .501 .108
60' 2.188 1.969
330 5.621 5.257
1/8 8.346 7.946
MPH 91.84 91.48
1000 10.668 10.270
1/4 12.603 12.220
MPH 115.26 115.82
Bottom line, I went 3 for 4, despite getting hammered by Darren on trap and ET in one particular race. (Then some guy ran a 19+ against me and I was able to squeak out the win.)
The Evosport shorty headers probably added 3mph to my trap.
Edit: Notice how consistent Darren's M5 is at 117 trap speed. The heat soak on the 55k doesn't allow that. Thanks to Robert and Darren for a fun night.

Mike is a fantastic driver. Great reaction time and knows how to launch his CL55. My car is definitely faster, but that does not make up for experience and skill (which Mike has both!).
Overall, I'm happy with how my car was performing. Once I figured out how to launch the darn thing it was very consistent. I could go back to back runs and get 117mph trap speeds all day long. The temp wasn't that bad either 63 mid evening and 57 going home.
Great fun guys, let's definitely do this again.

Darren
The Best of Mercedes & AMG
My best trap was
r/t .649
60' 2.038
330 5.859
1/8 8.073
MPH 90.56
1000 10.407
1/4 12.367
MPH 116.87
I had another run with a 12.343 best E/T at 116.48mph. 2.038 was my best 60'. Usually they were around 2.2. Definatly need some drag radials, the stock Pirellis were awful. ESP was flashing at me the first 1/4 of the strip it seemed like.

MBUSA.com says 4,280 for the SL55 and 4,255 for the CL55.
I think the M5 weighs just over 4,000 lbs ... plus, both Robert and I had our massage seats turned on, WITH the air circulator on!
That's gotta' be worth 3/10th's!
Okay, by any measure, the good guys win!
Thanks!!

Cool vids.. great event!! Wish we could run at night and have the LIVE TIMING , that was super

On the most competitive run of the night, at 1/8th he trapped 91.84 and I hit 91.48 from there I increased to a 115.82 trap and he trapped 115.26.
I must have caught him short by a gear because that 100+mph is the ///M's sweet spot.
After a cool down the cars are very close , on your closest run you were nearly a 1/2 second faster through the 1/8th due to his 2.188 60ft time, but your car ran strong the entire run and he did not make up any ground.
Now fast forward , he starts really picking up after the 1/8th and your car gets slower magnifying his strength. I have the NA motor and it also seems to lose 1-2 mph when going more than 2x. My car always runs great after 45-60 minutes of dry ice. And yes it LOVES 60 degrees or less.. I think your car would also trap 117 if you had let it sit or used dry ice to cool the intake.
Great runs , you guys did a wonderful job with the flow of info and I thank you!

In the run where we both posted a 115mph, it was only my second pass ever in my M5 at the drag strip. I was trying to use the launch control and it just sucks for drag strip use. The change in my trap speeds were a direct result of me getting more familiar with how to launch the car and changing my technique.
Just wanted to put some context around why my times sucked at first. I have no doubt Mike needs to get his car cooled down. When Robert (in the SL55) let his car sit for a while he posted a 116.8x (can't remember the exact time), so you're definitely right on.

Darren

My traps and times got better as the night went on as well due to practice. Started at 113 and 12.5 and finished in the high 116s at 12.3. Wheelspin still a huge issue, but modulating the trottle wasn't an option. Way too much excitement to remember to do it. Light turned green and foot went right to the floor.

Err...there was that one time I forgot to turn ESP back on after a burnout and reseting the shift points with the ECU reset. I ran a 14.5 at 111. I'm sure I put on quite a show going down half the track sideways.

We get those 60' times under 2.0, and you've got um beat every time.
Errrr ehhhh, hopefully. Gosh that M was cookin.
