Is $69K too much for an SL55 w/ Mods (600 HP + TQ) and only 11k mls?

I had it listed at $79K but got no bites. Do you guys think that $69K is a fair price?

Below are the pictures of the car and the ad.

$69,995, with AMG wheels. For the AVUS wheels + $5,500.

The car has 11,000 miles on it.
20" AVUS wheels, lowered, 80mm Throttle Body, Phenolic Spacers, PTE 160 degree thermostat, 178mm pulley, extra heat exchanger to keep the motor and intake air cool, -12 degree mod, steering wheel with working Black Edition paddle shifters, OEM silver interior trim, etc.

Should have over 600 HP and TQ, for another $3,000 you'll be at 650.

All mods have been installed only 1,000 miles ago, prices of the mods were as follows:

AVUS wheels: $8,500

Lowered $900

80mm Throttle Body $2,000 + $1,200 labor

Phenolic Spacers $400

PTE 160 degree thermostat $150

178mm pulley $1,000 + $250 labor

extra heat exchanger + Big Johnson pump (090) $1,200 + $350 labor

Working Black Edition paddle shifters $1,200

OEM Silver interior trim $2,000

Blacked out front side markers $100

TOTAL MODS of $19,250

The car is in West Los Angeles and has warranty till July or August 2008.

Price is $69,995 with AMG wheels. You can buy the AVUS wheels for $5,500

First off, your ride looks HOT. It looks really well done.

However, the way the market is, and prices I have seen out there it may not sell for that price. The mods are awesome, and mad props to you but for the average buyer it may run them off. JMO.

Go for it at the $69, and good luck. If you don't sell it, just keep it. I looked at the depreciation on these cars and it is a BEAST.

This is a very clean SL55, but like bigben320e said, the market is very poor right now. There are plenty of 04 SL55's for sale right now for around $60,000, however, since yours is modded and has low mileage, I would say low $60's is fair for it. By the way, I'm pretty sure the warranty is voided with these performance mods (at least powertrain warranty).

When it comes time to sell, most people here at MBWorld remove mods and sell them separately. I see you listed the labor to install the mods you will have a tough time to recover that. Mods and the labor to install them actually can decrease the value of the vehicle. Buyers want clean low mile stock cars.

curious why mod the car and 1,000 miles later decide to sell? Attractive car and impressive list of mods, good luck for a quick sale....

Now that you've asked Sanfran, the price seems too high, it's a really soft market for high end cars.
Why not take it to a dealer and get a trade in quote and estimate the market at 10k over that?

Beautiful car, I hope that you get your price.

Man I really feel your pain. the market is just too soft at the moment. with crazy gas prices and many people finding themselves strapped for cash it may be hard to sale the car for what it is really worth. I don't know what your situation is, but there is a guy name Tim at motorcarzdirect.com that can try to sell your car on consignment. Tim is a pretty fair guy and may be able to help you sell your car. the added benefit is that he would try to sale it at retail. and being a dealer, financing could help a potential buyer. tell him Kip sent you if you decide to call him.

Very nice car! I always thought and will continue to think in this way that modding a car is our option of throwing away money when it comes down to selling it. Its best to remove what is easiest to remove and sell it apart from the car...even the rims in this market won't garnish half used. Sell what you can apart and then price your car according to the market.

Good Luck!

A dyno chart to cover the claimed hp might help.

I know where you are coming from on that one. I had to do the same thing with my EVO8.
