hesitation issue. was told it will do this while cold to protect the engine under acceleration??? im talking my car wont move for 1/2 second. i dont know what to think anymore. may take it to another dealer, upgrade brakes or just see what happens. thanks for listening.
You just got fed a crock of $h*t.

The E63 hesitation has been discussed a lot on here. It's a software problem that mercedes is well aware of, but doesn't like to admit exists. I wouldn't take "oh, it's designed to NOT move when you hit the gas" as an answer...that's clearly ridiculous. On that one, you might want to start yelling about it being a safety issue. Might give you more leverage?

As to the brake rotors, I dunno what to say, except if they're mysteriously *fixed* then count your blessings. Someone may have done you a favor.

What makes you say the rotors were warped? Did you measure runout?

If you had any track time or really really hard street time, micro deposits of brake material build up on the rotors and cause them to shudder hard when braking. This is a result of the ineven surface.

Let the rotors cool down to ambient, then apply a light spray of water. Let them sit overnight while the water works it's way through the pad material onto the surfac e of the rotor.

Then in the morning,. take it around the block and stab at the brakes a couple of times. I bet the shuddering goes away.

This has worked for me on more than one ocassion of "warped rotors".

This is a total joke. There are video's from Tommy Kendall (Speed Channel) on a 1-hour test of AMG's where the first move they make is pb-ing a few CLS55's, powersliding the cars. Additionally there is a video make by AMG on a E55/E63 race at the strip. You think for a second the tires were not heated???

Sorry but this is total BS. These cars were BUILT and moreover MARKETED to be driven HARD...

On the hesitation issue...I was told about the same thing....the MB factory guy drove the vehicle and said that he needed to get with his "tech" guy. I was informed that "its's normal"......and it is done to protect the engine...what a bunch of BS.......I also went on the "official board"...and AMG responded saying that they are getting in touch with MBUSA and to have them contact me regarding this issue..............that was about 3 weeks ago......so far no response from MBUSA.........THEY REALLY DON'T CARE.......MB does its best to advertise the AMG and their "high performance" vehicle......but don't you dare run it.....or else!! This is my second AMG, my first being a CLK55....love the hp of the 63, but hate the non-support we get........sooner or latter..it will bite them! Working in the turcking industry...I met with Dieter Zetsche , who is the current MB CEO...he was the VP at Freightliner at the time........he was a dick then...and really has not changed his stripes. His take on things then was "we will build a truck with the components we have, and a spec vehicle is not an option at Freightliner". In other words....we will build what we want and if you buy it ok....if not....ok!! Bottome line profit is all there after...period! If we happen to loose a buyer...its ok...someone else will take his place. If their sales drop...only then will you see a different MB!!!...

Better yet...How about the brand new TV commercial where the C63 is completely roasting the rear tires off the car? So they say, check out what it can do...but uhhhh, dont ever try it or we'll bone ya for it?

Dealer in DC?

Who is your dealer in DC? I've had very good service from HBL of Tysons.

Call me crazy (or something even worse)...but I can kind of understand the dealer's point. Having just paid $650 at EuroMotorcars for front brake pads...I was very sympathetic to your story. However, when you point out that your rear rotors are warped...that really is unusual. Imagine the dealership's perspective... your front brakes apparently are ok but your rear rotors are warped and the pads shot.... how can that be? Have you been doing emergency stops from 100mph ... while going in reverse? Either the parts were defective/installed incorrectly or there was some abuse going on (i.e. powerbraking). The dealership chose to go with the abuse scenario. I can actually understand their logic.

another scary story!
$3600 for rotors. Maybe I should have bought M5 which comes with 4 year/50,000 miles ultimate service(free brake pads and rotors) I am not saying BMWs are better than MBs. It just would have been cheaper to maintain.
I thought $1500 front brake job(rotors and pads) for Cayenne turbo was crazy.
After reading a couple of stories about warranty issues, this will be my last MB
for me.

Don't get me started about them. I love to hate everthing HBL, but I digress.

I have been reading these warranty issues with amazement.

I own a small company (not auto related) and about 5% of our customers are what we affectionately call the "lunatic fringe". They are the first to buy our latest upgrades, they modify them, figure out how to make them better, and post extensively on internet forums & blogs about their experiences with our products and the support from our company.

They are by far our best form of advertising, and we go out of our way to make sure they are happy, because if they aren't, you can be sure it will be posted in countless blogs and forums. I would never dream of rejecting a warranty claim on one of these customers.

What the modders and members on this forum represent is the "lunatic fringe" for Mercedes, meaning if treated right, will be MB's most loyal customers and will be the best (and most cost effective) form of advertisement.

Anyone here involved in sales and marketing will undertand in today's cluttered media environment, traditional forms of advertising are becoming less and less effective. So why would MB be so antagonistic to their most influential and fanatical customers? This is clearly a sign of appallingly bad management.
