Help With Tire Size Please?

I am in need of new rubber for my stock E55 wheels and want to bump the width of the rear tire up to a 275 with the stock ride height.

Any suggestions on tire sizes to keep the front/rear rolling diameters correct and proportional?

Thanks in advance!

I searched relentlessly and came to the determination that 275/35R18s are the max you can go safely on the rears, and 245/40R18s in the front.

I ascertained this from posts from other members. You can go to 285s in the rear, but this isn't the recommended largest size you can go to as the sidewalls are then compromised and your handling/braking/safety may be effected.

Also, see my thread on tire pricing for Toyo T1Rs if you are interested in them...the culmination of my search trolling...

Isn't the stock rear width 275? I have a 2000 E55 and it came stock with Michelon Pilot Sports 275/35 rear and 245's in the front.

Actually this one might be better. It takes more into consideration than just straight math. Unfortunately its in german.

Vrodman claims to have a W210 IAW the listing under his avatar. Not sure if tire sizes are the same between that and the W211.

Yes, the W210 E55 has 275's in the rear, the W211 got downsized to 265's and uprated to 500HP.

So it looks like stock size in the front and 275/35/18 in the rear.

I take it that the minimal size difference is not upsetting the ESP calibration in any way?

I have had trouble on other cars but I suppose it all depends on how sensitive the system is.
