VRP Kleemann or Renntech?

Hey guys,

I'm planning on doing so major modding to my E in the next few months. I was originally going to go K2, but hit a dead end there because I don't want to go into the engine. Now I'm thinking Renntech P4 then upgrade to P6 after I get used to the P4....but it's going to cost quite a bit. I've read mixed reviews about Renntech vs Kleeman and it seems that most people say that Kleeman is the better way to go.

But what about VRP? It seems that they offer the same stuff for cheaper. I browsed their website and built something similar to the Renntech P4 for almost half the price. Has anyone went VRP instead of Renntech or Kleemann? If so, how do they compareto Renntech and Kleeman? Thanks.

all great choices. kleemann and vrp are incredibly solid. am renntech here and, fortunately, have had a great experience, so far. i would go with the best quality installer of the three tuners you mentioned, depending on what's near you. you also make a very good point re: prx/performance, depending on your potential installer's familiarity is with the brands named. the l/t service/support of your 55 is paramount. good luck, happy modding and enjoy safely.

RennTech's parts are very solid quality. My friends and I have had nothing but good experiences with them. However, if you dig deep enough, you can always find one or two bad experiences with any one tuner. But I think the majority is happy with each of the tuners you mentioned above. All three are very high quality and very reliable.

Keep in mind though that RennTech is a little closer to Mercedes/AMG than some of the others

Thanks for the feedback guys. I'm in NYC and there aren't many high-end performance shops here. Well at least not that I know of. But the place I'm currently dealing with reccomends renntech so I'm probably going to go Renntech all the way.

Does anyone on this forum have Renntech Package 6? I'm hoping to hit 10s and was told it's possible with Renntech 6, LSD, and a good launch...

get that in writing with a money back guarantee because it hasn't happened yet as far as anyone around here has heard. i'd be pretty damn pissed if my renntech dealer talked me into spending $30k on those upgrades and they didn't reach my expectations.

Don't expect 10s, as that will be extremely hard to accomplish. It is possible, but very highly unlikely. It'll take too many perfect conditions: -2000 ft DA, 40 F, awesome track prep, perfect launch, wider tires, etc....

I think mid to low 11s is more realistic

iirc, he hit 11.5. regardless, 11.4 is still a loooooooooooong way from high 10's.

there are a few of us that could "theoretically" hit high 10's with similar set-ups but as mb_forever mentioned, it would take the perfect storm to make it happen rather than simply bolting on a stage 6 package.

+1 Without nitrous you'll need some head work and bigger cams along with other mods to reach 10s.
Renntech's Package 6 alone will not get you there.

I've had Renntech, now have VRP, and will likely do some additional work throughr Renntech. Both companies have been great to work with. VRP's pricing is most certainly more reasonable. I can't say I've noticed a gigantic difference performance wisew between two comparable packages.

am installing sleeperX's RT TB & HE acquired via the winter de-mod of his 55. should be RT stage 4 (from RT3) by mid-next week with toe-links, as well. will keep all posted.

It can be done with-out any head work. Pulley, headers, TB and cams will get it done easily with a loose torque converter.

I'm working on a shop in NC, I almost have him sold on going with VRP. He's been talking to EVOsport and Powerchips. Stay Tuned!!!

Thanks for thinking of us! We appreciate all the support we get here on the boards.

I would have to say the same thing.. it all boils down to who is the closest to you.. If you have a shop close by that is willing to install and support the products you are trying to decide between, then just make a personal choice of which one you think is best.. Sometimes it is difficult because the shop will dictate what parts they want you to buy.

We have a pretty good dealer network setup now and we cover a good portion of the USA map.

I don't really get what you are saying...
Kleemann K2 doesn't go into the engine.
its just ECU+headers+Pulley....
anyways, all of those tuners make good parts...Can't go wrong with any of them!
But, it seems like VRP is on top at this moment!

Which Kleemann stage contains the cams? K3? If it is K3, then that's probably what he meant?

I meant that the most I can do without going into the engine is K2 since K3 includes the camshaft. But yeah...I'm probably going to start with Renntech 4 and see where it takes me ( other than traffic court...)

According to their site, these are the programs.

K1 Pulley + ECU
K2 Pulley + ECU + Headers
K3 Pulley + ECU + Headers + Camshafts +Exhaust system
K4 Pulley + ECU + Headers + Camshafts +Exhaust system + modyfied inlet house and throttle body

I was also considering just doing everything except for the cams, but the exhaust sounds like a huge waste of money and taking that away along with the cams would leave me at Renntech 4 anyway. Has anyone heard the Kleeman exhaust? How does it sound?
