I got mine from http://www.k1motorsport.com/ not PP. PP claimed they couldn't get all leather wheels and only inlayed wood was available. Guess they should have tried harder. Send K1 an email to see if they can answer your fitment questions to make sure but if it looks like mine then it should fit.
How much did you pay for the wheels?

My docking station had DB9 serial which is what I'd plan on using, but I've got a serial to USB conversion cable as well that I might try. If none of that works then I'll scare up an old one.

THere is no reason that you can't as the center section including the spokes on the MP wheel is the same as stock. I personally would do both as the stock wheel is junk by comparison. To me, it is the weakest part of the car.

I actually went out and bought a set of paddles yesterday and am in the middle of the process now. I wanted to try to retain the electronics that came with the paddles but it doesn't appear that they will work, as I tried to swap the connectors from the original shift buttons onto the new paddles and nothing happened when installed in the car. Sad too cuz the paddles have a very nice feel with a short yet firm "throw".

A ton of these wheels are popping up on ebay, etc., and I'd hate to buy an MP wheel for double only find out I could've paid off the amount for a wheel manufactured by the same company.

I am thinking that the ebay wheel that looks like the MP Wheel is being knocked off by another manufacturer and also using an OEM MB core. The look/feel appears to be very similar but unless it is in fact an MP wheel, my guess is the quality won't be there. The fit/finish of the MP/Renntech wheel is 100% OEM.

The perforated holes are quite large and the leather is not smooth like th MP designwheels.

Yes i hear you i dont know either but i would like to find out as well. These companies use OEM MB cores to make there wheels because alot of these companies buy back stock wheels for 100. Also these could be the same wheels and MP might just retro fit the holes in the back im sure you could cut it out and put them in these wheels as well.

Also, MP uses AMG wheel cores that have the correct holes. You could cut them in that other wheel but it is enough of a PITA to enlarge existing holes to fit paddles that I would not want to make them from scratch!
I am not into putting bargain basement parts on our cars. Especially if it is the first thing I look at and touch when I get in the car.
