Do it... I think I am going to need to get a 2.8L kenne bell... so I can make 675 to 700 wheel about 6 grand in mods for these cobras go along way. as it sits I only have maybe 2k into the motor to make 500 wheel. probably more like $1500

Those cobras are the greatest performance bargains as far as mods are concerned. What it costs for a set of HRE wheels for an E55 can get you in the 10's in a Cobra.

Good point!!
sucks , maybe you guys can do a high speed event with support of the authorities. I saw one in Nevada a few years back , they used the State Patrol rented a slice of a rural state rd and got a bunch of exotics to do high speed time trials. They do it here at EL Mirage, I am thinking of going out its a 1 and 1/4 mile event.
Yeah no street racing, sorry for bvringing it up in my excitement LOL..
dooooh.

I dyno'd my RENNTech'd SL600 on my shops Dyno Dynamics dyno and it made comprable RWHP to you, but also made around 200rwtq MORE than what you posted. However it's got a 600lb weight penalty, so I can see the race between you being close if he was chipped.
I ran a h/c C5 Z06 on the highway who trapped in the low-mid 120s and we were pretty much neck and neck... giving him the slight nod for being a hair faster...

I am very familier wit hthe 03 04 cobra platform and have worked on that style ford engine quite a bit the last several years. I have watched several 500 rwhp cobras on drag radials barely make it into the 11's and consistantly just low 12 cars because of terrible driving and no traction along with a couple other problems. If you spun in 1st as bad as you say, more than likely that would have been comparable to a low 12 pass not low 11's Just something to think about, but 60ft. and launch is where its at and torque is the master of the low end

but just have to say this, i have been in cars that sound and make you feel like they are faster then the speed of light! and assumed they would murder my car in a race, but alas i found out that my car acts very civil and composed when its going, and beat the car i thought would eat me alive by a good bit
another point is once you are done with racing n going fast or hit traffic, thats when u feel the pain of these cars (fast non luxo)i think in my opinion fumes/ loud exhaust/ comfort etc but for fun id say

LOL, it is loud, smelly and feels like it is going to fall apart...Thats why I love cheap american power... I really can appreciate cars from all price ranges and countries. I am in no way comparing my Cobra to my E55, just thought this thread would make a good read. I think i will order a 100shot kit for the car today, I really don't want to get beat or close to it again

What about a 600/65 against the new shelby GT500 SuperSnake? I ran one in my stock 55 up to 130mph before traffic set in. That thing is fast straight line and loud as hell. I prefer the understated wolf in sheeps clothing. That thing is all about dropping the buttons and hanging the gold...

okok some info on the cobra. It weight i believe 3700 lbs and I am on drag radials... We both went from a 20mph roll and I spun all through 1st, I assume he did also( he was on 19" wheels, so probably had PS2 or BFG street tires) my car is a 6 speed manual, however, it is geared tall(355's) I shift into third gear around 85. The race was so close it was a "drivers" race. Yes this cobra is fast, but it is rugged and and built for speed. The SL was just smooth and elegant getting to those speeds. Just an incredible car. I blew me away how effortlessly it appeared to accelerate to our top speed. I don't know what a stock SL600 weighs but I would assume a tuned SL600 and my 500 wheel cobra have very similar power to weight ratios. The car did NOT have exhaust. Both cars had two people in them. My cobra spanks my E55 pretty good, btw.
Here is my dyno, this was the 6th pull during tuning so I would guess it had a few more ponies in here, these cobras heat soak fast. Very different power band than my E55... not nearly as aggressive down low. Can anyone post a tuned SL600's dyno? Turbo vs super charged. I would be cool to compare the two dyno's since we can find out the weight of both.

The HP curve on a chipped 600 looks more like a torque curve. Yeah, the Cobra may be close on peak power but look at what the 600 is averaging across the rpm range and it's not even close. The 600 puts down more power over 90+ % of the rpm range.

no doubt the 600 motor effortlessly out powers mine... I think power to weight is similar, thats why this was a good race...
EDIT
I have been reading mixed quarter mile #'s.... Some people run low 11s with my HP #'s some low 12s with similar 60ft times... looking at the dyno for a chipped 600 it just does not seem like I could hang with that kind of power... maybe he was stock?
