I know it is hard to capture the tone of a thread by just reading words but I am being sincere. I am a frequent visitor at the local tracks (esp. E-town) and have seen bone stock C6 Z06's run as low as 11.2 @128. Even went back to the lanes to check out their cars and ask questions. Have looked under many hoods also to check for any mods. I have also seen heavily modded E55's run mid 11's. ...not even close to some of the stock Z's. So eveyone draw your own conclusions, I have mine. The Z06 will walk us fellas'

I was just thinking the same thing, when I posted that I beat a Z06 last week it just about started World War III on here...I am now living in the government witness protection program, I'm the only guy in Swani Nebraska with a Mercedes I stick out like a sore thumb.

Just picked up a new 08 Z06 and going through a ritual break in period. In about a week or so, my friend are I will be doing 'real world road test' of the stock Z06 against the modded CL65, modded M6, stock C6 LS3 auto, modded CLS55 and modded viper SRT10. Let me know if you want to come to Irvine area and have a run or two.

Hey I totally agree, those Z06s are no joke. In order for me to walk a stock Z06 in my fat as SL I would have to be pumping around 700hp. Some "Heavily Modded" E55s are just starting to come about and they'll be able to walk a stock Z06. Unless you have an SLR or Black Series, our cars are not built for high speed, short or long distance due to weight and other restrictions. But thanks to VRP and their long list of mods for the 55 Kompressor, we can change that...
No worries though cause we drive MBs for a different reason.

Bored/stroked with a Vortec Blower and a Bottle ...Smokes the 345s But When it Hooks up....
Its VERY fast...it would be NO Contest against a stage 3 E55

Truly, I'd like to see you race a Z06, in the wrong hands/gear/etc your outcome seems totally plausible, also we should deff meet up I'd love to see how my stk 600 TT would do against your nicely moded 500 rwhp 55!

Everyone is skeptical, except the guys that have VRP power. Anyone who knows about this stuff needs to post up some track choices and we can all pick one and show up. I'll go anywhere in California / Arizona and I'm down for any type track. Don't forget, I played with a Z06 on the big track at willows when my car was stock and we stayed about even with me pulling out of the turns. Lore and legend aside, lets get some real west coast data..

I am going to put this topic to bed next weekend. I am taking my race cars out of the hauler and replacing them with my 2007 BONE STOCK Z06 and my BONE STOCK CLK63 Black Series (stock except alcantara interior). I will be driving one of the cars and another very experienced NHRA licensed drag racer will be piloting the other. We are going to make several head to head passes in each car. All this talk about "stock" Z06 running low 11's and high 10's is a load of CRAP! I have yet to see a stock Z06 post better than an 11.70. My personal best in my Z06 to date has been a 11.86. I raced a few the Chevy Nationals events and trust me Z06's are a dime a dozen. I know what it takes to get a Z06 to an 11 flat and it is nowhere close to stock trim.

Stock means STOCK, no slicks, no ECU programming. I am also not refering to corrected times, I am talking real E/T's. Do you have any idea how many guys run around with ECU tuning and claim to be "stock"? That is way people "cheat" now days. It looks stock, it sounds stock....but it just ran a half second faster than everyone else with the same car, must be the driver right????? WRONG! Thats why they are now reflashing cars in the showroom stock classes at some of these events. Don't believe me? Google the topic.

My predictions for the head to head races are 11.8's for the vette and 12.10's for the Black Series 3 car lengths at the most. I think I have some credibility when it comes to this subject, I own both cars and I have held an NHRA license for 15 years with a few class titles to my name.

11.00 and high 10 second stock Z06's must be driven by the Tooth Fairy, Santa Clause and the Easter Bunny at Fantasy Land Raceway.

One last thing to add. I raced my CLS (runs 11.30's on street tires) against my vette and it gets the vette by 4-5 lenghts every time.

I hear what you are saying, but a road course is completely different story. A good driver in a BMW 335i could beat up on an average driver in a modded Z06. However, a great driver in a 335i is probably never going to beat an average driver in a Z06 on a drag strip.

An ECU reflash isn't going to pick you up 50 hp, which is what you'd need to gain 0.5 in the 1/4, on ANY normally aspirated car unless it was factory set to run a max of 83 octane gasoline. In the October 1999 issue of Car & Driver, in an article entitled "Chips Ahoy", they tested several aftermarket ECUs, including two Dinan BMWs, and got *no* gain in performance, let alone 0.5 seconds, except in one instance: a turbocharged VW Passat, which did pick up substantial horsepower via increasing the boost, no surprise there.

But again, this was *only* in the turbo, not any of the N/A cars.

Haivng owned a modded E55 which ran mid 11's at the strip, I hate to burst anyones bubble but a C6 Z06 will destroy you on a track. Stock Z's with good drivers will hit low 11's and high 10's stock. The C6 Z is a sick car and this is from someone who had a Kleemann E55 monster.

These are 2 different cars but please do not make the mistake thinking that your faster then a C6 Z06.

Just wanted to confirm what Rock was saying from someone who nows since I have owned both

I understand what you're saying, but VRP is producing mods and well defined programed tunes for the 55K that far surpasses any other tuner.
I agree, these are 2 different cars but please do not make the mistake thinking that a stock C6 Z06 will beat "all" modded 55Ks.
I guess I'll have to prove you wrong and that's with a fatter and heavier Benz compared to the E55.

ALL I SAID WAS THAT I PLAYED WITH A NEWER Z06 ON THE 5N AND WAS FASTER.

I also said that I assumed the Vette was bone STOCK and know that mine isn't. But, it also isn't Kleeman powered, either. And I wasn't talking about being at the drag strip, although I'd love to go to find out.

I'm sure we will find out soon enough just how the two match up, on and off the track. Understand that I love my E and am not hating on the Vette. It is the benchmark that it is, especially stock. I can't help it if the E was faster that day. I will put the HD camera back in when I get the car and post a few vette runs, then we can all argue over if the dude was really trying...
