Ran into a C5 Z06...
Ran into a C5 Z06 today. It was the later one I guess, had the 405hp badge on the side. I don't know what was done to it, I asked the driver before I ran him, he just said "a big engine"
. He was loud as hell though, so definitely an exhaust, possibly headers. Anyway, had a short burst (traffic) at first, 20 km/h - 60 km/h, punched it at the same time, stayed even. After that, I went behind him, and when the lane opened up, he floored it. Probably went from 50 km/h to 200 km/h (it was a rural road), he punched it first, and I followed pretty much immediately. Stayed with him the whole time, it was actually dead even. We both shut it off and gave each other the thumbs up.
We actually wanted to go from the dig, but to my embarrassment, as I floored, my supercharger shut-off completely (thats with the new updated pump
).
He of course took off with no problem, but shut it off when he saw that I didn't go... He asked me what happened, and I said that my supercharger did not engage.
I felt like a complete moron, and was totally embarrassed.... Felt like a ricer coming up with an excuse.
After that we had to go different ways. The guy was a great sport (wish more people were like him). All in all, I was pretty happy with beast, I gotta get a Johnson CM30 ASAP though..
With this good weather, I find myself going out to drive more and more for no reason at all, I just get in and drive. Every time I drive though, I always hope I'll run into something for some reason...
I DO HOPE that I'm not alone and somebody else does the same....![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
PS: Completely annihilated a Charger R/T a few minutes after, lol.

the pump wont be enough for those hard pulls.. you need a bigger Heat Exchager.
for most of the time the Johnson pump will help.. but if you plan to play hard ball.. you need the upgrade.

Firstly let me say this
Stock cars should not worry about heat exchanger moding. If you have the latest pump from MB and did the right draining you are fine, for many back to back runs. Else show proof that stock needs it.
Secondly
for a person how talks about the HE allot and always offers it up as a must, i find it strange that you have yet to get ECU for that big *** ASP pulley. The two go hand in hand.
not meaning to rant but think some facts need to come to light

I had a C5Z06 and spent many saturdays at Corvette Challenge events. In the hands of the average driver, they are not going to outrun a stock E55.

E55 then E63, now back to an E55
When I have driven c5 z06's, they just don't "feel" very fast to me........
Now a new z06 is a night and day difference, as is 996/997 turbo....

I don't know of many, if any, stock C5 Z06 that are in the 11s. Even my stock 08 convertible is quicker than a C5 Z06, but than again it has 31 more HP.

FWIW, I ran three c5 Zo6's at the old Carlsbad raceway when I had my 04 E55 on a hot day 88 degs, my car bone stock beat everyone of em. Eventually lost to a C5 Z06 that had intake, exhaust, drag radials. My best time was a 12.49 at 115. The Z's was 12.45 at 119. I had him at the 1/8 mile and he pulled me on the top end. I think the heat soak did me in. As far as stock for stock, no contest same day, same weather, heads up.

I wouldn't say the difference is staggering, but I still think I'd give the slight edge in speed to the Z.
