Recipe for 11 sec E55...
In general, how much modding is needed for an E55 to run a 11.00-11.50 and still be used as a daily driver?
Will a pulley&ECU do it or do you need more then that?

I remember Shawn ran 11.80s and 11.90s with just pulley and ECU at Famoso (90 F). He then added headers and air filters, and ran 11.70s. Then finally he added 80mm TB, and more ECU tuning and ran 11.50s. Translate those numbers to ATCO (easily 1/2 second faster track), and you get your low 11s

What happened to Shawn?

2004 E55 AMG and 2003 C320 4Matic Miss my 993 Turbo above!!
Seriously, the best ET of all time for an E55 is an 11.348 or something without nitrous and that car had every imaginable mod. Be prepared to spend in excess of 10,000 if you want an 11.5 second car. Look at dragtimes.com if you want to see who has run under 11.5 and what mods each car had. Start with mine if you like. Good luck trying to get 11.0 with just a pulley and ECU dude.

um i see you have a 06 CLS55?
is that new or did you always have it?
and yes i think you need more then pulley and tune based on feedback...but you can always give it a try and see what you get

If it can't be done reliably then I would hope somebody would also shed the light on that & why
That's why I'm asking on the forum, because the guys who post here help each other out no matter how redundant a question is
Since I'm considering building a 55 for myself,I would be running at Atco or Englishtown.
I would most likely do pulley,ECU,headers,filtersD/R's and see where that gets me.
Hmmm,I wonder if I were to buy Enzoms car&do those mods to it how fast it would be?
Lorenzo,hello???

you already know those are great tracks so I see you at 11.5 with what you listed. I would add cooling to keep it reliable. If you dont hit 11.5 with those mods just add TB.

You took the words out of my mouth. I was just about to say, why don't you buy Enzom's car? It already does 11.7s and 11.8s bone stock. An 11.5 could be only drag radials away

don't forget the VRP TB
The problem with dragtimes.com is your assuming whoever posted is being 100% upfront with their mods. Most of the guys I know won't tell you everything they have done;guys who race like a little secrecy&I understand that.I'm not asking for good luck,I want to know exactly the mods I would need to build a reliable low 11sec E55;not one that's gonna blow itself up.

Gixxer - every time I get close to selling it, I can't figure out what to replace it with. Still hunting for a dealer with a 65 or a 996 Turbo, but they are so hard to come by.

Here is a E55 in the 10's.

I have no idea who or what is under the hood though.

I was really pleased with the results!
27 HP with the VRP Shorty Headers and another run on the dyno after the VRP Throttle Body added another 30 HP. A real bang for the buck $$$. My understanding is that these TB's were on the early SL55's but MB decided to tame down the 55 motor and they didn't reappear until the 08 SL55 again on a factory 55 motor. Most of the 55 guys have stated similar results with the VRP 80mm TB from the factory 74mm TB.

I wish, but I doubt it. I might be able to drop it to low 11.7's on a great day, but no chance it is going 11.5's without some more hp. But I will try.

look at sleeper x's old posts... he was at a 11.4 Package 5 Renntech... running HRE with Toyo T1R's i think.....
RennTech Extreme Pulley
CF Airbox
Headers
Throttle Body
Intercooler Pump
that brings in the area of 600hp....
i have a vid of him doing a 11.4 pass

What is the RennTech Extreme Pulley? I thought they only had one pulley (168mm)? Do they have a new bigger pulley?
#25
i think its 172mm and must be done with the intercooler pump upgrade (otherwise hit heat soak and end up slowing the car down)... and comes with a different water pump pulley to fit the new charger pulley... good for another 10/15 on top of the regular pulley/ecu package....
