What I learned at the drag strip
I learned that my CL55 is a FAT PIG!
Can't say why I never got on the scale before tonight, but good grief, this car is a LOAD!
MB says 4,250 lbs, so I figured 4,450 with driver and stuff.
Nope, 4,650 pounds! Less than 3/8's of a tank and no computers, boat anchors or golf clubs in the trunk.
So, I'm using weight as my excuse for not being in the 11's like I wanted to be.
I did break my best time by .05 seconds, down to 12.13 (please pardon my wild celebration).
I didn't break my best trap of 115.86, the best I could do tonight was 115.38.
Beyond the excuse of "bad air", I'm puzzled why the car didn't trap better. It is absolutely stronger and more responsive in the low and mid ranges with the VRP tune.
The car was remarkably consistent, with 60' times ranging from 1.89 to 1.96.
Over 6 runs, the MPH at 1/8 mile ranged from 91.1 to 92.2.
The traps were from 113.85 to 115.38 but the other 4 were 114's. I'm still disappointed in the traps.
Reaction time was .01 on every run. (Okay, that's a flat out lie.)
To be fair, I didn't see another car (streetable) run a 12.1 all night. That includes Vettes, Viper, assorted Mustangs, Camaros and modded Crossfires. There were some freaky looking track cars that managed 9.5 to 11 seconds.
A few people came up to me and marveled at the time I ran, so maybe I shouldn't whine.
Oh yeah, temp was 87 degrees for the first 4 runs and 75 for the last 2.
To close on a positive note, I didn't lose a race all night. Including the one where the other car ran an 11.1 at 128 mph, because the fool jumped the light! He took so long to stage the second light that I was ready to scream at him. Of course, no one would hear me outside my car because it's like a bank vault and weighs almost 5,000 freakin' pounds!

I agree it's faster juice, I'm just having trouble getting hard data to prove it.
Last night was 11 degrees warmer and 17% more humid than the previous best.
