E63 Brake Squeal Can Someone Post TSB on this

Bringing my car in the morning its been 4 weeks and It is driving me nuts. I would like to have a print out of these TSB on this issue like all the other members have in which the dealers replaced the pads, rotors etc. I figure if I give this to the service advisor they can get me in and out.

Thanks, post a link to download or insert attatchment who ever has this stuff on file. I did a search and just see TSB # but not the actual TSB sheet.

I have the same problem as you. I took my car to Smythe European MB in San Jose two months complaining about leaking tranny fluid, 2nd gear start in DS mode, and squeaking brakes. They fixed only the leaking tranny fluid and said the 2nd gear start in DS is b/c of the leaking fluid and that high performance brakes ALWAYS squeal. After hearing this, I just took the car and slammed them on the SA review. Of course, they called wanting to fix the unresolved problems but I ignored it. They should've gotten it corrected the first time around instead of some bu!!*****e excuses.

Anyway, I saw some posts here a few weeks back about the brake squeal. I'll see if I can dig it up for the both of us.

Hi Guys-new owner of e63 in Canada and the brake squeal is embarrassing at every stop and in traffic. Pulling into my parkade at work it is so loud that it actually hurts the ear.

Dumb question but is this TSB in Canada as well. I am calling the dealer in the morning.

Many thanks

Yea, I think you have to subscribe to a TechNote site or something to get the actual Note. I think there's also one for the fronts but haven't used that.

Just give them the #: my SA printed it out himself. Of course they tried a CYA by telling me they "knew about it all along" but that it was my FRONT brakes, not my rear. But they "did me a favor" and used the TSB to replace the rears. Of course the squeal stopped.

That doesn't mean that it won't reappear in a few thousand miles but remember: when you tell them about a TSB they are unaware of they are going to feel their manhood challenged and do anything to convince you that YOU'RE crazy. See if you can come up with a story about how it's an OBSCURE TSB.

Good Luck.

Hi! Does anyone know if the E63 has fixed calipers in the rear? This is a question about potential Brake Squeal.
Thanks

Sorry to hear that many E63 are still having brake squeal.
My brake was fixed about 4 months ago and it has been squeal free for last 6000 miles. I thought last TSB fixed squeal problem.

When I have this problem, I just heat up the brakes and the problem goes away.

Now how the brakes get hot is a private conversation between me and local law enforcement. Which I avoid and respect 150%.

Take a look inside your wheels and see if it's dirty in there. Probably is. Mine squealed like hel so I took my car out and did several 60-0 power stops and then cleaned everything really well and used an air hose to clean out the remaining dust. I then went out again and did a couple of 60-0 power stops and cleaned everything again. After 6,000 miles they haven't made a peep.

Fact is, that seemed better than having the stealer jack with my brakes.

Good luck.

sorry to bring this post back alive. im at 18,000 miles on my e63. Ever since my car had 5,000 miles i have dealt with terrible brake squeal. At 5 thousand miles, i had my brakes changed as a courtesy, but began squealing the next day..Anyways, im at a point now where i tried everything (washing my car every two days, braking hard, heating up the brakes, etc..) and nothing seems to cure this. I've had my brakes checked out a few times and it still has over 50% of life left in them and that they see nothing wrong. Every time i go to the MB service to have my brakes checked they say there is no TSB for this and squeaking brakes are normal in AMG's.

Then last week i printed out the DTB from this and went to the dealer. They gave me some BS excuses and then in the end they said becasue my car has 18,000 miles i have already ran out of warranty to cover any TSB issues.

Is that wrong?? Why should DTB matter on a cars mileage. I still have more than 50% of my brake life, and shouldnt the dealer cover this under warranty? I am definetly willing to shell out money to fix this problem, but i already changed my brakes and it didnt solve any thing so I dont wanna pay for something that will not fix the squeal...

I dnt have an e63 but i had the same problem in my e55. I bought it in 4 times for squeaking brakes and the last time they got mad at me and replaced my pads and rotors all for free. If you keep hassling them they will change em.

90% of the time I get a squeaking brake condition, this is exactly what I do. Your pads build a glaze on the surface from certain driving styles, and locking the brakes up at 60mph removes this glaze. I do recomend some calm driving in between each big stop to keep the brakes from heating up too much, and some calm driving afterwards so the brakes have a chance to cool down.

please elaborate on this "locking up the brakes at 60mph" technique you speak of

Find an open road with no traffic. Get your vehicle up to 60 and slam on the brakes. Obviously make shure thtere's no cars behind you. Remember the goal isn't to get the brakes smoking hot, so I definately recommend a cool down drive in between and after. Usually 2-3 of these stops remedies the issue.

Hope this helps.

Normally brake squeal is covered by MBUSA for the first 12 months/12,000 miles whichever comes first however, DTB P-B-42.10/76a was released DEC07 to eliminate front and rear brake squeal on your 211.077 by replacing your existing pads with revised pads. The 12 month/12,000 mile allowance does not apply because they are not replacing your current pads but rather installing revised pads covered under warranty – the DTB notes allowable warranty codes for submission to MBUSA.

PM your email address and VIN and I will forward a copy of the DTB to present to the service manager. In addition, I will send a MB datacard listing option & paint codes, production date, etc.
