since i don't have baseline dyno, SI started by putting stock ECU file on it to measure tune gains more accurately...

and the verdict is...
480.92rwhp with above mods and stock tune
522.34rwhp with above mods and custom SI tune
that's 41.42rwhp gain with ECU tune alone!

my car is now pushing 637hp to the crank and my goal was to reach 600 mark...
this is achieved without 80mm TB and/or camshaft mods...

huge thanks to SpeedInnovation!
the entire process took roughly 3 hours to complete...

off topic: i once had ECU tune by "different tuner" for a short period of time...
just found out today that they locked my ECU...
it was no biggie for SI but who would lock a customer's ECU without them knowing??

anyways, i am so happy with the result and it was worth paying extra for the dyno time... done with engine mods... only OEM mods left...
Excellent numbers, MJ! How is the power range increased, low-end, mid-range or high-end/fwy?

Wow! Excellent numbers. Which dyno did they use because 480 rwhp is mighty high for a stock ecu tune. You are basically running the same rwhp as most stage 3 cars if not more. After the tune, 522 rwhp....WOW, that's probably some type of a record. I don't recall ever seeing a stage 2 run that high. I take it that we'll be seeing you at Famoso this year.

Excellent job and I can't wait to see that bad boy run!

MJ, these numbers are off the charts But you should still dyno your car again at an independent dyno somewhere else. You have added close to 170 hp with just pulley + headers + tune...... most people barely get 70 to 80 hp with that same setup Also, you should make sure your tune is actually safe.

If these numbers turn out to be true, then we may have found a new record for an E55 and on the track, you'll probably be the fastest stage 2 E55 out there

I agree with Mo, have a independent shop re-dyno your car just to make sure. I always get a 2nd opinion when it comes to my AFR's. I'm actually adding a Dashsaq logger with a Innovative Motorsports LC-1 wideband sensor. To me, the extra sense of knowing that my AFR's are in good condition...both with dragging and day to day driving. Let's see...cost of a repairs versus $700 logger with AFR reading, I'll take the $700 out of pocket. JMHO.

Mo, if these numbers are correct he might have the fastest stage 3 also. I put up 470-480 on a dynojet and my car turned 11.4xx @ 122. Just imagine what 65 more rwhp would do ! Good luck MJ and please re-dyno, not for numbers sake but having the piece of mind your car is running safe.

not to take anything away from you...but that is some serious power
to put it into perspective 65amg power, 55 stage 4 kleemann power & over stage 5 renntech.

pulley/header combo is good for 460-480 rwhp give or take...your adding 40 odd more rwhp with just cat delete and bigger exhust tubes ??

as others have said re dyno some where else and then track it. Should give you a good idea...or run with another stage 2 car and see what happens

gl and great thread

i had to 3 dynos that at the same shop...
on the 1st dyno, it was during a dyno day other JDM car and AMGs verfied their numbers respectively so i know what numbers i'm getting...
that's why i picked the same dyno shop to do it again for accuracy...

i'd be more than happy to dyno again on next dyno day for those non-believers(?)
but car is running smooth and strong...
also did canyon cruise at MGR yesterday right after the tune...

the tune is not completed yet...
more fine tuning will be done in upcoming weeks...

bottom line, SI provided more gains when other tuners thought it was not possible...

Damn those numbers are too crazy... I'm sorry, but I too believe these numbers may be innacurate. People get 400-420rwhp stock. With a tune only you got 480?? That's just too crazy...

Yo MJ, these are crazzee #'s aren't these the same mods you had when you ran even w/Mario's J3 335i on multi runs? or are the shorty headers new?

That's what I'm saying..... most packages out there will net you 70 to 75 hp over stock with pulley + headers + tune. However, you are almost at 140 hp gain with just these mods. Not quite double the gain, but very close.... and since you say there is more to be had, you'll likely reach double very easily.

By the way, I'm not doubting your word regarding your car achieving these figures, I'm just saying that it is way out of the ordinary. Had it been 10 or 20 hp power extra, then one can more easily attribute the difference to better parts or a better tune, but you are at 60+ hp difference and maybe even 70 hp difference after your tune is complete. I just want you to make sure your car is running safely. Not one single E55 on the forum have achieved these numbers (or even close to it) with only the given mods

You should start another thread about the dyno/gains and let some of the experts chime in. By the way, are you tuned for 91, 93, or 100 octane? Maybe that explains some of the difference in gains.

Actually he got 480 with stock tune.

No one is doubting what you were told or saw but just that these numbers have never been heard of with your mods. Best thing to do is line up with a stage 3 and if you walk him easily than all we could do is eat our words and ! Good luck MJ and either way you have a sick ride, 522 rwhp or not!

stock software, headers and pulley, and 480? That's pretty crazy. But I'm like Benzoboi now, numbers don't mean anything, it's all about the track :P

. exactly! Dynos are great for measuring the delta and AFR's but too many variations from dyno to dyno.

well, my goal was to reach 600hp just to be different from stock cars...
no need to compete with stage 2 or 3 cars for track times...
