I have the timeslip somewhere, did not think a 12.19 @119 was anything special. I beleive the car trapped at 117 bone stock. You mean to tell me you guys running 12.0's and high 11's are running under 119? That seems odd, I know my car pulls at the big end but that is unbeleiveable. Does any of that have to do with gear ratios? Are our gear ratios even that different?

What is done to Mach5's Black Series? Is it stock? Like I said, I did not even think 119 was impressive, especially considering the extensive work I have done to my car and considering it ran over 117 while bone stock last fall. I will post the slips. Also note that the 119 was with a 40 mph diagonal to the track cross/headwind that nearly blew me off the track and made me feel like I hit a wall when I cleared the grand stands just past the 1/8 mark. The wind was so bad they were discussing closing the track down to only 1/8 mile passes but then it started to rain and everyone had to go home anyway.

Yeah we need your slip in the fastest 63 thread. I think it actually is faster than the NOS pass?????? Lemme go looksy, post it up man 119 is great under such poor condition. I bet we see 122+ out of yer car in NOV. Post up your slip so I can get you at the top. Your ET is not in the top 5 but yer trap is #1

well the stock cars are posting up better times than non stock based on numerous factors one of which is weather.
Its ok 119 is 119 and it simply means you will definately see a few mph faster. We need your car to et and trap similarly to a stage 5 E55. so mid to low 11 seconds at 121-125 mph
PS , I will fix the list and put the non stock cars seperately!

My goal for this car is 11.50's with the Mickey Thompsons and ALL Motor, no NOS.

I have said it before and I will say it again, my area of expertise is road racing, not drag racing, can any of you guys throw some knowledge on the following issue my way? How much time do you think my new Mickey Thompsons E/T Streets will give me? I assume the biggest improvement is going to be in my 60ft times. I had Forgeline build me a set of custom 17x10.5 3 piece wheels (yes they fit, but just barely), they are pretty light, under 21 pounds, but no where as close to as light as the 16.5 pound Dymags. I assume I am going to give up a couple ponies due to the increase in weight of the wheels. I am aslo going to play with the adjustable suspension on the car (big benefit of having a BS). I would assume I need to back off on the compression, to allow the car to squat a liitle more. I would also assume I need to slow down the rebound to maintain tractions. Last but not least I assume I should raise the ride height of the rear end of the car a little bit. How much should I raise the car? I don't want the a$$ end to high because my rear spoiler will act like a parachute and slow me down, I'm sure it is already working against me in it's current geometry when drag racing.
My goal for this car is 11.50's with the Mickey Thompsons and ALL Motor, no NOS.

That ET street is a SIK tire it should get you to consistant 1.70's and will lower your ET by .4. Measure the tire if the ET street is taller than the corsa and it should be your gearing will improve and your trap may as well. I have 26x11.50 ET Streets and they are mounted on 17" stock C class rims 30 lbs or so. Adding the weight hurt my time a bit but the consistant 1.80's was worth the switch.
You have some serious testing to do prior to the 15th, tire, suspension, fuel, air filters, man looks like your work is ahead of you to achieve 11.50's. I definately feel your 500+ hp 63 can hit low 11's if we have negative da. yOU MAY SEE MID 120'S.
Its going to be great but only you can master your set up, your 63 is far different than mine and or anyone I have experience with. Ricks 63 has some up top prowess due to the headers I would imagine yours are slightly more productive. Also your car is 200 pounds less than his. We need an accurate weightof yer car drag race prepped prior to MIR. I think getting your suspension set properly may be the most important thing to master. Getto a test and tune and run the car, thats the only way to really know what will offer the best set up, dam when you think you know something it may not apply to another track LOL!!!!! Drag racing is very very difficult , I cannot stress that enough, it is more frustrating than GOLF

As I just posted on another thread, sorry for the repeat. I am heading out to the Route 66 Speedway test & tune this afternoon. Weather here in Chicago today is near perfect 75, lower humidity than normal, sunny and a light 5mph breeze. I have a friend coming with me to help me wrench so hopefully I can do some experimentation with the stock box and the VRP CF box as well as the filter. As long as the weather holds off I should have a report back to you guys tomorrow on my conclusions.

Well guys, I don't have much to report back, well I do but it is probably not accurate info. I made 6 passes last night at the strip 5 with the VRP CF box and one with the stock configuration. The stock configuration was my fastest pass, however ithe air temp was at least 15 degrees cooler and the car sat for 1 hour 20 minutes between passes. I wanted to go back to the VRP configuration but they closed the traack before we could get another pass in the cooler air. I'm going to try to do it again next week. Below are my 3 best passes
11.887 @117.25mph VRP CF Box
11.861 @ 117.80mph VRP CF Box
11.824 @ 118.29mph Stock Configuration
Again, I'm sure the air temp and the cool engine played the largest role in these times. 60' times on all three passes were near identical only varying by 100ths of a second, a 1.802, 1.807 and 1.804...how's that for consitant?

WOW if it took some 15 degrees of air temp and over an hour of cooldown for the stock boxes to perform near to the VRP boxes I would think that is a pretty good indicator that the CF boxes MAKE POWER. Sweet, I'm gonna tell my buddy about it and have him scoop up a set.
Congrats on the great passes BTW

Great 60 ft times man!!!!
Looks like a new ET record but trap speed still seems shy of what we should expect from a 500 rwhp car. I need to check DA but looks like you had a resonable evening temp wise.
Airbox is going to maybe get yo .1 .05 while a long cool down would maybe be worth .2

Congrats to Jim on your great passes!!!
I hope all of you guys are enjoying your airboxes...
Right now I am doing my best to keep up with demand.. As fast as the batches are landing here in Toronto I am packing them and shipping them out. I was originally waiting on 40pieces but because of the demand for boxes I had the composites shop break them down into lots of 10 and ship them.
I apologize to everyone on the wait list.. we are moving as quick as possible. The next batch of 10 just arrived yesterday. The hold up right now for people who are waiting is for the filters to get here..
Sorry again and thanks for your patience!
To the 2 guys from Italy and Brazil.. Your boxes will take a little longer to get there, but I am sure you will be happy!!! Thanks for your support!

It may be too early to tell, but will these boxes be compatible with the upcoming supercharger? I want to make sure they are compatible if I were to go with the supercharger in the future.

Vic,
Thanks for sending the 63 Carbon Air Box..
It looks like under-hood jewelry on my car.

Hi Vic,
Just to let you know the CLK63 BS picked up over 1+ MPG on a trip Sunday.
The combo of the CF Box and my modified intake tubes makes a difference..

I was peeking around over on 6Speed Online this morning and came across a company called GMP selling what appears to be this exact same CF airbox. Vic, is it the same airbox that you are selling?

The beautiful 63 Carbon airbox that you see before you was created by Carbonio. I am very good friends with the owners of the company and we have a long standing relationship. We have collaborated on many projects in the past.
Carbonio was instrumental in the development of the VRP 55 Carbon airboxes that were created last year and are development partners on a few different projects.
Right after the VRP 55 airboxes were completed we had discussed doing a set for the 63 cars. I stalled on the project because we had so many projects already on the go that I couldn't devote the proper time to it.. Carbonio picked up the slack and ended up designing, creating and bringing to market the finished product.
Because of our close relationship, VRP has exclusive access to the 63 Carbon airbox for the first few months. We sold out of our first 20 pieces almost immediately. There is another batch of 20 that we are expecting which will be here in 2-3 weeks.
Any of you that are considering this upgrade, I would strongly suggest you place your order and secure one because once these 20 are sold it will be another 4 - 6weeks until another batch arrive. The demand has been very high for these pieces and I suspect these next 20 will sell out very quickly also.
