WTF, couldnt outrun a 335i coupe!!!
hey guys, im a usually looker on the forum dont post much but on my way home today from work, this 335i pulls up beside me, even tho i was the one who was edgding him on, i put my car in sport mode and gave a couple short throttle bursts, we merged onto the highway the 335i comes from behind and to my side, i put the car into manual mode now, and set my suspension, i let her rip first and the 335i lets her rip aswell right away aswell, to my surprise we got to about 100mph from about 35mph and the 335i was right by my side!!
man i knew they were fast but able to stick with my e55 ??
anyone think there might be something wrong with my car? or maybe it was modded up the a-hole or something.

That's the beaty of a Turbo car, do an ECU and a simple exhaust and Viola!!!, He most likely was chipped. They are fast. Recently one of them broke 11's with a tune and a bit of racing fuel. Just a complete sleeper IMO.

thanks for the feedback....
yea im sure most of faster 335i's are in cali ,i seem them running around here with all there bdy kits and rims, such. im sure it was probably modded, the exhaust was pretty loud!
i was just surprised, never took a ride in one of them or anything. Good to see such power from a 3 series, must be fun. just was a shocker i guess.

Shape of things to come if AMG doesn't get their Kopf aus ihrem Arsch (head out of their ***) and give us the mother f'in turbos.
I have just about had it. We need to start a letter writing campaign humbly demanding the turbs from AMG.
Most likely all they get each day are letters from school kids asking them to make electric cars to save mother earth.
We need to make our voices heard.
Okay, that's it. I'm on this.

I went against an electric blue 335i in San Diego and it did well, he got beat but did well. We would have kept going but there was a CHP officer up the road.
They are quick!!

You don't say. In fact, this was your first post. Would need some pics but your 55 should outrun one unless you have IC pump sickness.
Yes they can be vishnu'd to 400bhp but not sure how many of the are running about.
All the ones I've met have buckled like a fly under the koran.

Under $2,000 can get those puppies pumping out 340+whp and close to 400lb-ft wtq, while weights ~500lbs lighter. Stock 55s are not as fast as you think anymore.

Info on modded 335's....This is a Dinan Stage 2....stock is 300hp & 300lbsft
The results of Dinan’s tuning are nothing short of breathtaking, with the added boost and related recalibration along with the Dinan Free Flow Exhaust producing maximum output of 384 horsepower at 5700 rpm and 421 lb-ft torque at 4300 rpm for $2000.00

At our last track rental there were 2-335i's running.Neither went below a 13.2and believe it or not the one R63AMG that ran was faster.....Granted both 335's were bone stock;modded they are quick

The 335s are very impressive. Juicee and I witnessed the 11.89 run and a couple of 11.9s and ton of 12.0s by the modded 335s at one of our track events. I think the fastest one belonged to Terry, and he was pulling 1.6 60' time like it was nothing; but then again, he was running on full slicks. Also remember that track elevation is slightly ove 600 ft and DA at the time was close to a +1000 ft. I think he could've ran at least 11.79s at ATCO

Granted modding a 335i will be cheap and have huge results but at the same time how much can the motor handle without having issues?

As for the 335i, even when chipped you need to add brakes and suspension etc etc. It is the idiots Euro wheels of choice, at least in these parts.

Also to all the others, its not just ECU and exhaust to make he car able to take on a stock running 55k. Few other things are involved. Admittedly the mods are cheap in comparison, but they need more and they do add up, including running on full race gas!
Secondly numerous cars have gone into limp mode after running their max setting, or close to it. In essence not consistent at full power (boost). Including the ones that ran the new M3..
No one knows for sure the effects it will have on the car in he long run.
BMW dealers are doing a crack down on ECU changes and are voiding warranties on th spot, some also said they are making it harder to crack the ECU coding now to.
and no not all the dealers are Dinan friendly and their are a few posts regarding this to.
i wanted to say this, because well some people think its all easy and dandy and can give the wrong impression, with all the ubber power numbers and dyno posting of the same graph over and over....few posts have come up also of members not been able to get the magic numbers they are seeing from these tunes 400+hp
