Possibly getting a CPO E55...worth it???

This will be the first time i am purchasing a used car with CPO. I want to hear from you guys if you think this is a good offer. I'm looking at a 05 black on black e55 with 41k miles and these options:

6-Disc CD Changer
Active Ventilated Front Seats
Bi-Xenon Active Light System
DVD COMAND (Cockpit Management and Data) Navigation
Headlamp Washing System
Keyless Go
Panorama Glass Sunroof
Power Rear-Window Sunshade
Rear Side-Window Blinds

car looks great except for the chrome stock wheels.

They are asking 46 at the dealership. Any advice is welcome. I just want to know if i should pull the trigger or just keep waiting.

for me it would depend on color combo as well. however, even if the color combo is what you are looking for, i would not pay anywhere near $46 for that car. i know people are quick to talk about how much cheaper they could get a car for, but take it from someone who bought a CPO e55 5 months ago, you can get that car for $40K, maybe less.

That being said, the car is loaded with all the right options and if you love it, buy it for whatever you are comfortable paying and dont listen to me or anyone else.

gluck...

Make sure you push the CPO to 36 months and not the offered 12. Note they value the additional 24 months at $4k.

ive seen/driven the car. actually took my brother to check it out since hes pretty good friends with the internet sales manager there (vincent) and hes in the market for an e55 since i got mine. im positive this is the one at smythe european on stevens creek? he would have gotten it except for hes not a fan of black cars nor the chromed stock rims.

if u can get it for 40k its a good buy. even anything up to about 42k is fine. the car drives ok. but the tires look pretty worn and we didnt really inquire about the extended. think the build date on the car was like 10/2004 or 11/2004 so its a really early 2005 too.

2005E55AMGLOL.... your spot on. That car has been sitting at the dealership for almost 2 months i believe. But do you really think they would drop the price down to that low? I kind of thought i was reasonable for the mileage and year and options?

i would like to think so. when i spoke to vincent about 2-3 weeks ago with my brother, they would have done 42k right then and there if he bought it that day, but once again he would have if the color was different and the wheels were not chromed.

i think you can get the car for 41k definitely, possibly 40k. heck its been 2weeks minimum since they would have sold for 42k.

i dont even think its too unrealistic to ask for 40k + a new set of tires. those contis are pretty friggin worn.
its all upto you though. personally i would never own a black car because of the upkeep, as my E is silver w/ pano. but then again to each his own. i have a silver car, a blue car and a beige one. some people really like black on black. i do think the car can be had for 40k and would be a good deal if so.

Yeah, i really can't believe i would ever go back to black on black since i had that on my A4 couple of years back. But you have to admit if upkept, a black car is the sex!!! I am going to try to work out a deal and let you know how it goes, i've been wanting an E55 for over a year now.

I've seen 05's with 06/04 build dates. I'm not sure when MB starts building their next model year but based on 05's being built in June of 04 that means that 11/04 would be half way through their build for 05's if the 06's start up in June of 05.

If it is a CPO they have to roll it out with a certain tread depth on the tires. You are not going to get the additional two years for 2 K, no way. Does the car have SAT radio, you will want that and the I-Pod integration? Overall, a decent deal considering that a year ago that car would go for close to 60K. No stealer is going to just shet $6K off the sales price. Say 42-43 would be a decent deal.

The additional CPO warranty is really needed since with that early build date, the car will be out of warranty too soon. What does the paint look like on this black jewel? If the car hasn't been taken care of the condition of the paint will really tell you. 41 ticks is a lot.

I would try to get in an 06, lots of cars out there right now. Even an 07 E63 can be taken for high 60s.

the paint looked okay but then again i didnt really pay attention. personally im not a fan of black cars because of the potential upkeep for the paint, as my Es silver, but like i said before, this car will be a good one for the right owner at the right price.

and i do think they can easily come 5k-6k off the price, esp if the cars been sitting for over 2 months now given the market.

So i was talking to the sales rep, trying to work in a deal, not even mentioning that you were almost able to get it for 42k, and he still didn't want to budge on the price. I'm not sure if factoring in a trade in for my 07 G35s Sedan had anything to do with it, but he really wasn't trying to get a sale. I may drop by near the end of the month and see what i can do, but as for now, no E55 for me unfortunately.

sucks to hear it. not sure who you talked to. next time ask for vincent ta. my brother and i and other family have refered him probably 6-7 customers over the years so im sure he may be a little more willing to work with me. esp if he knows you have cash on hand ready to buy or at least make a downpayment.

heres some more food for thought.

theres a smaller privately owned dealership stevens creek motorgroup (on the corner of saratoga ave/stevens creek) next to the casino that has a clean silver/black pano 2006 E55 AMG. identical to mine. pretty loaded, low 90s window price. heres the kicker. it has like 14,000 miles on it, and its CPO. im not sure if it was for 5 years or 7 but hell u could extend that sucker and get a nice CPOed e55 thats warrantied till 2013?!

heres the dumbass thing. when i went to check it out with my brother about 2 months ago, they wanted 65k for it. i was like are you kidding me, i could get a E63 for that much. they said at most they would let it go for around 60k. even spoke to the owner, some cocky douche asian guy probably late 20s with a Lexus LS460 that was way to low for his own good. anyways i drive by there almost daily on the way to work and am almost positive the car is still there. at least it still was last tuesday, unless it sold the last 2 days while im here in socal. anyways, maybe they'll realize that for 65k no one in their right mine is going to buy that car, and hell they probably wont even get 55k for it.

im thinking if u could get that car for around 50k or say 52k, spend the extra 2000 to extend the warranty, u could have a really nice low mileage cpo e55.

04 - 06 e55 Wagon - looking for
I think most start at the dealer price and bargain down. Which, means one doesn't know yet what to pay. Start at the bottom up, with check in hand and leave it at that. The buyer can always walk away. Problem is, most need financing and need to trade. So, arrange for financing up front, KNOW what you want for your trade in (realistic) AHEAD of time. Negotiating is the fun part, especially when you have done your homework. Keep us posted and good luck. I used to live in the Bay Area and I know that dealership next to the card club. I remember after the dot com boom that lot had tons of exotic cars for sale.

Do you know how long the E55 has been at their lot?

I have found that dealers will make some interesting deals once a car sits for 6+ months on a lot.

My CLK was orginally 20k when it went for sale in Jan 2007. By the time I had shown interest in late May early June they brought the price down considerbly.

A dealer in Richmond once told me that they like to keep the cars on the lot for 10 months and then off to auction they go..... I bet on the 9th month they would work on that price b/c they would get a lot more from you then a auction!

46K with those options and miles is too much. I don't care if it is CPO. Walk, and they will come down.

Seriously, you can get 05/06 E55's for much less than 45K with less miles on them. I dropped the thought of needing a CPO status as it only covers 12 months/50K miles, and got my Benz's with less than 30K miles on them, you can get a Mercedes extended warranty and still come out much less than spending $46K. (I got an MB extended warranty for and additional 60K miles/5 years)

The are plenty of them on Ebay, clean titles, less miles and I peeped one for $32k with 35K miles, and another for $44K, CPO, only 34K miles. Take it for what it is worth.

both cars ive mentioned have been on the lot for about 2- 2 1/2 months now. 6 months from now? id offer 36k for the black one at that point.

just because say 4-5 months after i show interest and offer 42k for a car they decide to say uncle ok i give in well match your offer doesnt mean my offer of 42k would sit on the table that long.

the car depreciates every minute of every day.
i honestly would even offer 42k today. maybe 40k if i wanted it
