Speed traps - new way to avoid them. what do you think?
Just saw an article on this and it looks interesting. Basically, people sign up and whenever they see a speed trap they hit a button on their phone which alerts all other members who are approaching that spot.
Here's the link to the company and the article:

Anything people can do to avoid the man putting you down! I feel traffic enforcement resources should be put to use where they will do the most good, in getting violent criminals off the streets. Just my two cents.

In my local municpality, sorry for the spelling guys, we have the highest rate of car theft at Ross park mall in PA, yet we have the most patrol cars in PA
I guess doing 26 in a 25 zone is more important than my car being in its spot when I leave the mall.
See yeah

13,000+ deaths per year - MVA's where speed was the main contributing factor.
To put that into perspective there were approximately 16,000 murders in 2004.
Speeding not serious? Tell that to the families of the 13k people who die every year due to excessive speed.
Secondly, many wanted and dangerous criminals are caught from these non-serious infractions.

it's got legal issues, but interesting concept> If you flash your lights to warn oncoming traffic it's illegal, similar to making a call>all they have to do is subpena the records of this outfit and it's history.......

We will lower the speed limit from 70 or 75 down to 45 or 55, and then every car going 1mph over the limit, we'll chalk up to being a "speed-related fatality"...
Man, you have got to learn a few things. First and foremost, statistics can be manipulated pretty much any way you want them to be. Secondly, the threshold for them pegging something as a "speed-related" accident for reporting purposes is obscenely low. Do you really consider an accident where someone happened to be going, say, 5mph over the limit, to be "speed-related"? Well I would hope not...but the cops certainly do...
So take the statistics with a giant grain of salt...
