WOW!!! That is DEFINITELY a record! You NEED to get that posted on dragtimes and recorded on the fastest benz thread https://mbworld.org/forums/w211-amg/227255-worlds-fastest-1-4-mile-mbz.html.

Amazing time and trap. What was your ET? It had to be SICK with those numbers!! Also, what is your rwtq and weight? I am considering a replacement for my Porsche convertible and I have heard some good things about a CL600 conversion out in Cali. Do you know anything about that? Otherwise, I am restricting my search to SL600s and/or SL65 AMGs.

Is there a sign up sheet for the rental? Is this the big East/West meeting? What are the actual dates? I have a trial from November 10th to November 21st, but if it settles or gets adjourned, I AM THERE! And, I don't mind paying in advance and possibly forfeiting the money if the trial goes forward last minute. How much per car? Are payments being submitted yet? Is the list limited to a certain number of registrants?

I was just busting them a bit. You have an 11.6 slip and I don't

Your car is an animal, and the driver isn't too shabby either.

VERY COOL

Sorry about the last post, they crossed on the internet airways.

BTW, the company that does the conversion (so I've heard) charges about 12k and it is apparently a VERY nice looking finished product. I just don't know if I can go hacking into any Benz. They are all so beautiful in their own rights. May just stick with the SLs (same/similar modification potential and "built" as convertibles).

Look forward to meeting you.

AWESOME!!! That has to be the MOST amazing HOLE SHOT for ANY Benz that I have ever seen. WOW!! It is just about unfathomable, but I knew it was possible with these torque monsters. That slip right there goes to show what the pure power of torque can do for these cars off the line, EVEN if there is a slight disadvantage on hp (to some, albeit a very few select machines).

This is yet another reason why I am not willing to give up my torque curve from the LET custom tune on my car for a "few" more hp, as I fully believe the torque is LARGELY responsible for the amazing 60 footers I have pulled "right out of the box" and as green as green can be!!

Congrats and nice to "meet" you Jay.

Any thoughts you guys have on how to squeeze that extra .013 out of my car in its current form to break the Stage 1 record? I still haven't run it perfectly cold on a good day with negative DA, so this might do it, but I don't want to leave anything up to chance. I also have not tried the ECU reset at the track yet, so this may be an option.

My 11.80 @ 115.73 in Indiana a few weeks ago was with a perfectly cold car (2 hours plus with ice and fan), but was at 2122 DA. This apparently calculates down to a 11.51 @ 118.717. My 60' here was a 1.658 (my best). The only other run I have ever down completely cold is at ESTA when I ran a 11.83 @ 117.20 at about 950 DA. This only calculates down to a 11.712 @ 118.397, but my 60' there was not great at 1.79, which obviously affected my ET.

I am not sure how much "trust" I put in the calculations, but a 118.XX is definitely in my car. I just haven't run it cold at the right track with the right weather yet.

Any other suggestions or advice?

Remember to use 1/2 the correction factor for S/C cars per the NHRA - your expectations might be a touch on the high side.

Maybe a Juicee63 diet for your car? Replacing the OEM battery for a Braille or Odyssey unit will shed a few. Passenger-seat-delete mod would help too.

Did you pump the fronts up to 44lbs?

0-weight oil may help a bit.

Adding an additional reservoir large enough to fit ice will put your charge cooler efficiency above 100% and shave a bit more.

Lighter rims will help a bit too. Maybe an alternator disable switch?

How far do you want to take things?

Fronts were at 42-44lbs for all runs. Pretty sure CPT put 0 weight oil in it?? Don't want to yank the seat (used to do that in my Supra and it drove me crazy). Reservoir idea may be worth pursuing.....

Goal now is simply to nail the record for Stage 1, which I believe is 11.666.

.666 are you serious? Talk about crackin' the devil

Actually if we are talking about any Pulley and ecu than 11.562 at 121.490 might be it.

Sorry Albert, didn't mean any disrespect. You ran that time on a pulley and a tune only? If so, that trap speed is simply amazing considering that the DA was about 125.5 that day at that time. Not to mention, that is faster than most stage 2 and 3 cars out there. I can understand the ET, but the trap (both 1/4 and 1/8) is very difficult to comprehend for a stage 1 car. What rwhp and rwtq was your car putting down with the ASP pulley AA ECU? What type of tune did AA put on your car?

Oh well, I guess I have .117 to go. Now I need "more" suggestions.

None taken, I was just going to suggest an asp style pulley.

It made like 470 and some change to the tire. I never checked the da but I know it was like 50 deg that night and for us the weather was perfect. Fiske's e55 was stock at the time and ran repeated 12.00's at 117 bone stock, hot lapping the car. If the da was that high, I'm shocked. One thing I'm not sure of is if I had already removed my primary cat's but I'm inclined to think they were removed before the rest of my mods.

I added headers, tb after that and large heat exchanger the day of the rental and ran high 11.40's on a warmer night at only 122. I later learned I still had air trapped in the ic circuit. I got all that fixed, added a Quafie and headed back out to the track and ran two 11.30's at 123+ and the 10.74 on the nos. If I remember correctly the car was making like 510 rwhp at the time.

Things got crazy after that, tried two different cam shafts and even a larger pulley than ASP. Thanks to PTE's cam tools I could install cams in my sleep. I also did the large trunk mounted reservoir and kept the vrp cams. Picked up 30 to 40 rwhp and ran a bunch of 11.39's,40's and 41's at MIR but it was hot high 80's to low 90's according to the car display. I don't think anybody took a da reading. Sorry about the ranting.

All amazing runs!! Wow, you have had some fun with that car. What is your current mod setup?

I am trying to decipher what the best run has been with just a pulley and an ECU tune at this point, no exhaust work and all 4 cats in place. Is it possible for you to find out if you ran your 11.5XX with the primary cats on or off?

Also, what day/time did you run that 11.5XX? I just followed the date and time from the slip on dragtimes, but these are often incorrect for the rentals.

Finally, was the 470 rwhp done on a dynojet, dyno dynamics, mustang, or some other?

Thanks for all the info and congrats on some amazing runs.

I will check with AA on what day I had the 02 flash done if it happened before the rental then we will know the answer for sure.

Thanks
It was an evening rental, ran several 11.58 and some 11.60's but the 11.56 happened towards the end of the night 9to10. If you are taking your reading from a local airport than the da was definetly lower at the track. It is in the middle of knowwhere almost a swamp, not to uncommon to see gators in the canal that runs inside the property.. I think sgc had a few 11.6's at 120+ with a renntech stage 1 at Moroso.

It was on a dynojet.

05 ML-500 , 03 CLK5.5 AMG has left the Garage
Esta Track

This Track Is located just north & slightly east of Syracuse , N.Y. East Syracuse Timing association. I had tons of Fun there in the 60s & 70s. I went back 2 years ago , in the fall , Nice cool weather , low humidity day. I set my all time low ET there with My N/A 03 CLK 5.5 . ET was 12.34 It was one hell of a long drive & great Visit with old local Friends. It snowed 2 days laters. I did not miss that . Cheers ___PTEngineering

Nope. It looks like the record for a pure Stage 1 car is 11.666 (.013 to go).

Albert (rflow) ran an 11.562, but that was without the primary cats.

Thanks for the compliment though

That sounds cool. Congrats on the good runs at ESTA. I have only run there once (and only one run at that), but it was fun. The people were super cool and the track was prepped well (VHT, rosin, etc.) I wish they had more test and tunes. They would get A LOT of business. It may have to do with the local ordinances though (lot of houses around there now).

The weather up here will wear on you over time (ie snow), but the change of seasons make up for it, IMHO.

Also, I know about long drives to tracks (longest distance to date is about 800 miles) - makes for pretty cool adventures and memories.
